Littlebear
I even didn't know that! I just find that cover hilarious The small bearded guy on the left makes me laugh each time, especially with the other guy who seems to tickle his tit
cryptique
The album notes on iTunes mentions a collaboration with Los Lobos, but doesn't mention which song... Does anyone know? There isn't a collaboration with Los Lobos, but Steve Berlin appears on "Polar Nettles" and "Red Tide."

hardwood floor
Orleans was a pretty underrated band back in the day my obsession with kate bush not withstanding, i don't like many female vocalists but this record is really great
Analogman
I see that she is in a lot of music magazines this month. Neko Case easily earns her biggest charting week yet as her Anti- album "Middle Cyclone" debuts at No. 3 with 44,000. Her last album, 2006's "Fox Confessor Brings the Flood," debuted and peaked at No. 54 with an 18,000 start.
tugmoose
Yes, and here is a tie in for this discussion:Great double-bill that night! I remember Neko commenting on all the cool gear Wilco had on stage (pre-Nels, even) and Jeff saying that following Neko he must sound like a frog (that's where Neko got the idea for Marais La Nuit). Preferred B
I picked up the album this weekend and like it so far - I think it has too many songs, but I feel that way about any album over 12. But I mainly wanted to post here to ask tugmoose what the heck is going on with his avatar.

Dreamin'
After a few proper listens, I like this. A lot. Anyone else think "I'm an Animal" would fit nicely on a NP's album? And is the first track about a tornado stalking someone?
Analogman
When I first saw the title, I thought she was covering The Animals song of the same name.

jakobnicholas
Just heard this for the first time. Probably not in the league of "Confessor" or "Blacklisted", but those are amazing records. Love her voice and the music behind her. Will probably grow on me. And the cd booklet is kinda cool to flip through.
Duck-Billed Catechist
The more I read her latest interviews, the more I think she is a few bricks shy of a full load.Huh. I've never gotten that impression. That timeline that Tualla posted was pretty interesting. She basically started out as a scenester.

I have always thought she was a bit off, but most creative people are that way.
LouieB
There is an interesting...moderately interesting article in the New Yorker by critic Sasha Frere-Jones. Some nice insights and some kind of dumb stuff too, but a great pic. LouieB
Analogman
From The Guardian: Neko Case talks to Leonie Cooper about the ups and downs of being a country singer raised on rock
dondoboy
I listened for the first time last night. Great record. With a few more listens it may give "Fox" a run for its money.
bsr8j
I listened for the first time last night. Great record. With a few more listens it may give "Fox" a run for its money. I don't know if it will ever reach "Fox" status for me, but I really do love it the more I listen to it. The two-song combo of "Magpie to the Morning" into "I'm An Animal" sounds great driving at night on back roads!
bleedorange
I listened for the first time last night. Great record. With a few more listens it may give "Fox" a run for its money. It surpassed Fox on my first listen and it has stayed that way. I absolutely love the new album. It just builds and builds and I haven't been able to get "I'm an Animal" out of my head for the last week.
LouieB
I was sick this weekend and put it on twice in row and listened straight through (well fell asleep during part of it.) Good stuff all the way around. LouieB
solace
i'm not surprised a lot of people are saying this "surpassed" Fox for them, that one, while great is probably her 3rd best album anyway even prior to this new one being released. it's def grown on me a lot more, but wouldn't say it's in my top 5 on the year at this point. then again i think the only Neko album to crack my EOY top 10's was Blacklisted in '

Its not up to "Fox" but its great. "Fox" is special for that one, two punch at the beginning. Best record so far this year. For me.
