I was being funny - I don't like the guy.

Any drummer that Richard Thompson choses to replace Dave Mattacks (when he brokehis arm)...well, that's endorsement enough for me.

I know. That is just my view. Actually, I just read an interview with Kenny last night in a Jefferson Airplane book I am reading. He played for them too.

This is sort of interesting. Why all the Jay threads all of a sudden? I wonder.

Most Likely Jay-Jeff Reunion?

Feb 15 2009, 10:55 AM -

Does it mean Jay Bennett has a new member name?

I suppose there comes a point when a band stops making albums you want to buy - so you just move on. That happened to me with REM, but not Wilco.

I suppose I think it's sort of weird to keep wanting someone to come back to the band who apparently created problems for Jeff and the band as a whole. It's no secret that Being There is my favorite Wilco album and Jay Bennett is certainly on that record, but that was then, this is now.

I couldn't agree more. there's the debate whether suffering makes an artists work more relevant, but then why would you ever wish that on anyone for your own selfish goal?

This is a cool story, but I'm not sure I'd take this as Jay sticking up for Jeff. If I am Jay (or Jeff), I'd be pretty effing sick of hearing anyone yell out anything about Jeff (or Jay) at a show all these years later. They have both moved on, but folks still can't let go (see these threads). Whether someone is badmouthing Jeff or complimenting him, I just can't imagine Jay wants to hear about it at a Son Volt show. Just my $.02.

I totally agree with you, Matt.

I have heard someone shout that at a Son Volt show before, so it's probably some jackass who wants it on the audience recording. Hilarious! :rolleyes

And I read that thread at JF.net - later on in the thread, someone clarifies that Jay did not flip the guy off, but the guy flipped off Jay as they walked off the stage and Jay raised his had as if to say "WTF dude?"

And I find it hard to imagine JF feels the need to stick up for anyone's integrity except his own band's integrity which is compromised by "fans" during a performance who can't get over the drama.

I wish I could interpret it the other way, I just don't see it.

I cringe everytime I see someone make this crack, if that's all you can add to this conversation, seriously dude it's been before and it really wasn't funny then.

Ahhh it is kind of funny.

Marc Ford stalks the Black Crowes board, as does Jeff Cease, Audley Freed, Eddie Harsch, Johnny Colt, Paul Stacy, Rob Clores, Greg Rzab, Andy Hess, Bill Dobrow, and some chick named Amy Finkle.

That reminds me of the shit that went down that caused them to shut down the official message board.

I was thinking - all this reunion talk is sort of disrespectful to Jay Bennett in some ways. If he is about having a career as a performer and producer, then one should not want him to go back to a band he was a part of in the past.
