bobbob1313
I love the minor league portion of my Auction league draft. We do a snake style for 3 rounds of minor leaguers. I got Tommy Hanson with my first pick (Braves), and am looking for Logan Morrison (Marlins), and Fernando Martinez (Mets).

Thoughts? A lot of people who follow this kind of stuff are surprised Hanson isn't up with the big club right now. He's probably ready right now, after an absolutely absurd showing in the Arizona Fall League, where he had a .63 ERA with 49 Ks in 28 1/3 innings. He seems like a pretty good bet to be up with the club before long. Morrison is a pretty good bet to at least see some at bats by September, though if the Marlins can't get production out of first base (and right now, first base looks terrible for us) and he's lighting the Southern League up in June, he could get a call up. And Fernando Martinez is a guy to keep an eye on, he's the Mets top prospect, and I'm not sold on Daniel Murphy's ability to hit enough for a corner outfield spot, so he might get a look after a pretty good season in AA last year. Duck-Billed Catechist
White Sox will supposedly name Dewayne Wise the starting CF and leadoff hitter. Wtf if true. He should be platooning with Anderson (who is younger, superior defensively, and basically the same offensively) with both of them batting 9th, if anything. They should have Chris Getz leadoff. Dewayne Wise career MLB OBP: .254Dewayne Wise career year (2008) OBP: .293 He has not drawn a single walk in spring training.
PigSooie
Sounds promising.

Duck-Billed Catechist
Well, Ozzie tried Nick Swisher at leadoff last year and said that base stealing isn't any good if you can't get on base. They seem to think that Wise, a career minor leaguer, has turned a corner at 31. Brian Anderson should probably be the full-time starter, given that he would be the only + defensive player on the field. He has 6 assists in ST.
Duck-Billed Catechist
From a White Sox board:Should I worry that DWeezys' .341 spring BABIP won't maintain itself? Seems like he might be getting a little more lucky than BA's .289. But that's grindin' for ya. No. That's a perfectly sustainable BABIP especially when you're as talented a hitter as Dewayne Wise.hehehe

dondoboy
Just read the story. Plenty of people have wanted this for a while. Me included. He was rotten last year. The story goes on to say that he wants to go to Tampa. And quotes him as saying that he isn't close to being done yet. I'm glad to see the Tigers making a move.

I'd rather have Burrell anyway. This was my first thought. Not even DH room, which is where he'd likely be relegated to with the near-constant injuries. I've heard talk that his bat, slow last year, was even slower in ST. Not a great sign for signing on somewhere else, particularly leaning towards a DH spot. Though, I'd imagine DET would be picking up most of the tab for him, so....
