BreezyGrass
It has been 5 loooong years since the NYC Public School System has closed for snow! I couldn't be happier not having to go into work this morning. I would have celebrated and maybe had some beers instead of going to bed early last night but I can't complain. Needless to say - its beautiful out now that I don't have to go out in it. But I think the wife and I are venturing out to the bank as we are going to try and buy a house. Exciting stuff. How does your area deal with snow? Many snow days? I find that NJ/Long Island close when there's a flurry in the air. NYC never. How goes by you? Enjoy fellow NYC'ers if you don't have to work!!! RaspberryJam
We're having a snow day in NW Connecticut! We've had probably 5 this year, with maybe 5 more delays. Probably half have been justified. Today's certainly was. I snowblowed about 10 inches, and the way its going, I'll probably have to do it again. Where I grew up, in the Adirondack's, they never called snow days. It had to be a blizzard. It was no problem for me, I lived in the same village as the school, but some kids live 1/2 hour away on a nice day. Yesterday, I went to Target and bought some shiny new art supplies so the kids are happy for now. Later, we might go to a friend's who have a sledding party every snow day. We'll see how the roads are then. I swear they only put down about 3 grains of sand on our whole road.

isadorah
we're working here in DC. we got more snow than last time when we got ice and snow and everything closed. i think it my be because Obama heckled DC for being wimps. so we have toughened up and are not getting a snow day. hmmmppphhh. jenbobblehead
Snow Day in Virginia. I shoveled the walkway, but didn't bother with the driveway. Maybe i should do the driveway, although I can always stay home tomorrow too.
bjorn_skurj
Well, I am taking a snow day, but am risking the "wuss" label by doing so. I am making banana bread to bring in tomorrow to atone.
lamradio
Snow day in upstate South Carolina as well. It all melted by 11 AM though (as always) and now I'm at work...
BreezyGrass
Shoveled out the trucks, hit the bank, and am now couching it and looking forward to relaxing! It was a nice day off of work! We don't get any snow days and we should have had in the past. But overall we've been lucky in NYC over the last couple of years. Going to enjoy!
watch me fall
Snow day in upstate South Carolina as well. It all melted by 11 AM though (as always) and now I'm at work... Not one drop of snow down here, yet schools were cancelled yesterday afternoon. I swear the people who run our school districts are really something.
lamradio
I swear the people who run our school districts are really something. You're right about that. They actually canceled school again yesterday, and they have a two hour delay today!! wtf..

lamradio
You kids should try Michigan weather. I lived in Boston for two years so I have seen some pretty nasty weather. The first year I was there in 2001, there was a major blizzard. They closed school for a week.. Thats saying a lot when they actually close schools up North..
