Somnambulist Posted March 30, 2009 Share Posted March 30, 2009 I plan on picking this up tomorrow but I was wondering if anyone has heard it yet and anyone's first impressions? I downloaded "Airstream Driver" free from their site a while back and liked it. I've read a few reviews of the album and while they're not stellar, they say it's a good mix of "older experimental" Gomez and "newer polished" Gomez. Quote Link to post Share on other sites

solace Posted March 30, 2009 Share Posted March 30, 2009 while it was a much more mature and less rocking sound, i actually really enjoyed the last one after not caring for their previous 2 that much (i do love 'Silence' however). so i'm at least curious to hear this, even if their best are def their first 2-3 records. Azzurri Posted March 30, 2009 Share Posted March 30, 2009 i like some of their stuff, but i saw them live a few years ago and wasn't impressed. the surest way to turn me off to a band is to attend a mediocre live performance. it's hard to shake off that prejudice, even if every band has a bad day once in a while. bldad Posted April 5, 2009 Share Posted April 5, 2009 As a borderline Gomez fanboy, I have to admit to being very disappointed with this one. I have no problem with an artist/group going a little more mellow or poppier, but you still need some kind of melody you can latch on to or at least an identifiable hook.
