KNevitt
Justin Townes Earle- Midnight at the Movies One of the best records I have heard in a long, long time.
myboyblue
I like the Justin Townes Earle quite a bit as well. I'd go with Dan Auerbach's solo album or Jason Isbell.
pmancini100
i have it already, it kicks ass. i hear a bit of hank sr. in his songs. but yeah, how is jason isbell? i was never really into DBT.. ive heard some great things about his solo stuff though. same with patterson hoods solo record. Gobias Industries
I would recommend the new Dirty Projectors record, Bitte Orca. It's on NPR, so you'll have to trek over there for the stream, but it's worth every second of it. I can't guarantee that you'll like it, of course, but it's a real good record. Three dollars and 63 cents
The new Sonic Youth is out Tuesday and is phenomenal. I think there might be a bonus track with the Amazon version, too.
Wild Frank
Nice things to listen to (Old and New): * Micah P. Hinson - and the Red Empire Orchestra* M. Ward - Transistor Radio* Jason Lytle - Yours Truly, The Communter* Decemberists - Hazards of Love* Sparklehorse/Dangermouse - Dark Night of The Soul
Bob Dylan's Beard
A few albums that I've been into a lot lately: Seven Swans- Sufjan Stevens (Beautiful stripped down sufjan at his best. One of the most intimate albums I've ever heard)Octahedron- The Mars Volta (The best album they've put out since Frances. Cedric is perfection on this album)Gold- Ryan Adams (All of his other albums pale in comparison to this masterpiece.)
HungryHippo
you can't go wrong with John Frusciante. check out Shadows Collide with People or Curtains.
Moss
The new Dinosaur Jr. album is really good although I don't think it is out for a few more weeks officially. My next purchase is probably "Planets are blasted" by Boston SpaceshipsThe new Sonic Youth is also on the list.PhoenixI am liking the new Eels so far although only a little ways through it. quosh
The new Eels (Hombre Lobo) is rocking my little socks off.
quosh
Gold- Ryan Adams (All of his other albums pale in comparison to this masterpiece.) You have to be kidding right? It's a good record but Heartbreaker is his masterpiece by a long chalk, to say it pales in comparison is frankly madness on your part my dear friend, I'm sure most others would concur too... Keep on rocking in the free world.
nodep5
This year has been hard, a lot of records, but a lot of mediocrity. Here are some suggestions from the past few years. Josh Ritter "The Animal Years" or "The Historical Conquests Of Josh Ritter" Dolorean "You Can't Win" or "Violence In The Snowy Fields" Iron & Wine "Around The Well" 2cd b sides/unreleased (freaking awesome) Matthew Ryan "Matthew Ryan vs. The Silver State"
PopTodd
Jim Ford - The Sounds of Our Time (RIYL: Nick Lowe, The Band)Barry Adamson - Back to the Cat (RIYL: Nick Cave, Ennio Morricone, Portishead)Tim Armstrong - A Poet's Life (RIYL: Rancid, Toots & The Maytalls, Jimmy Cliff)

Bob Dylan's Beard
You have to be kidding right? It's a good record but Heartbreaker is his masterpiece by a long chalk, to say it pales in comparison is frankly madness on your part my dear friend, I'm sure most others would concur too... Keep on rocking in the free world.I don't know. I feel like Heartbreaker falls off towards the end of the album. I guess 'pales in comparison' was a bit strong, but I like Gold far better and I would say that Easy Tiger is the second best. Having said that, some of my favorite Ryan Adams songs come off Heartbreaker, but it doesn't work for me as well on the whole.

cusacker
You should pick up a Carissa's Wierd album. Good luck finding one for a decent price though.
anthony
Get Iron & Wine's new record or perhaps Neko's Middle Cyclone (if you haven't already). Two best releases of 2009.
