Wilco 5 Part Interview on XM

Recommended Posts

From XM in my email today:

XM CH. 12, Outlaw Country, will broadcast a five part interview series with Wilco starting Monday, July 27 through the 31st, every night at 9pm EST.

I'm not sure which Sirius station that is, if it indeed is on Sirius, too. I also don't know why Wilco is affliated with country music anymore.

I'm surprised XMU didn't pick it up. They have been playing Wilco in heavy rotation lately.

This is great, thanks for the heads up.

Also, do you know if XM 12 plays a lot of Wilco? I always have trouble finding wilco on xm and XMU and The Loft are the only channels that Ive heard play Wilco.

The Spectrum (ch. 45, I think) plays them sometimes. It's been awhile since I've listened to the music channels, as it is baseball season. I don't watch tv, so I'm pretty much always on XM 175-190, April-October.

Apparently, Outlaw Country does play Wilco, and you know how outlaw and country Wilco is!

Wilco, Shooter Jennings & Michelle Branch, yeah, peas & carrots.

"Singer/songwriter Jeff Tweedy and bassist John Stirratt (a.k.a, the two remaining founding members) will chat with Outlaw Country host Meredith Ochs. Expect a lot of chatter about the creation of their latest release, “Wilco (The Album).” The band also premiers Tweedy’s new duet with Roseanne Cash, “Long Black Veil,” from her upcoming album “The List.”"

Do they ever archive these things anywhere?

Yeah, Outlaw Country is pretty good when you are in the mood for bullshit-free shit-kicking music.

This worked extremely well. Thanks Dude!

I like this channel 63. In the last 15 minutes, I've heard John Prine, Lucinda Williams, Patterson Hood, Alejandro Escovedo, John Hiatt ... :)

Cool, I'll have to give that a try tonight. I'm really interested in hearing 'Long Black Veil'. :beer

That's it? A couple of minute interview snippet and Wilco the Song? It was more like the Wilco minute than the Wilco hour. Why didn't they just string the 5 segments together and play them in a one half hour time slot that this appears to be? Don't tune in 5 minutes past the hour tomorrow or you'll miss the show.

You lucked out. Whenever I put on Outlaw Country I get nothing but "classic country" stuff: Hank Sr., Willie Nelson, etc. Nothing wrong with that stuff (although there are other channels for it), but when I put on "Outlaw Country" I want to hear the folks you mentioned, or Uncle Tupelo, or the Bottle Rockets, etc.

Basically, I want an "alt-country" station, which is what X-Country (pre-merger XM Ch. 12) used to be. Alas, it is not to be.

I could not tell Jeff was the other vocalist on that one. Not really a duet IMO. Well, it is her album.

I thought the same thing. I don't really know what I was expecting, but I’m a little disappointed with it.
