Concert etiquette

Recommended Posts

Video and flash photography are big no-nos, but what about when people around you at a concert dance a goofy dance; or sing along so, out of tune, with you?

Some food for thought:

Dance?

I am pretty much a let people do what they want kind of guy...except for the extremely annoying twirling hippy dancers. Especially that goofy chick who felt the need to dance along like Dr. Dog was the second coming of the Dead

There was a link within your link of an even older thread. :blink

It's not like there is anything else going on here tonight. Why not just respond to a new poster and get a little action going on in here?

Maybe some day in the future somebody will post an etiquette thread and then somebody will link to this thread which has a link to the current thread which has a link to the really old thread.

Actually I like this subject because some how the most annoying people find me. I generally go with the "hey, 'it's a rock show" attitude. Some how I always get pushed back to the corner where I'm next to both the garabage and isle where non-stop people seem to flow from. I start the show with my feet firmly planted in the most optimal spot for sound and sight the suddenly I'm in the hallway.

I prefer if people are dancing, as long as they aren't constantly bumping into me. Singing along is cool too as long as you aren't being an ass about it all night and screaming in my ear.

The last Wilco show I went to I encountered the most annoying fans I've had to deal with at a Wilco show. Two or three girls behind me were constantly talking during the show. And they'd scream whatever they were saying at each other to talk over the music. For a few songs it was all I could hear and finally I had to find a better spot.

So that is my biggest pet peeve, people who go to a show and aren't interested at all in what's going on in front of them. I left an Iron and Wine show early because it was hard to hear the music over all the hipsters socializing.

I didn't know I was rehashing, having just signed up. But the old thread(s) were interesting to read -- so thanks for finding them.

It is my right, as a paying customer, to yell “Free Bird” and “You suck!” and “WOOOOOO!!!” whenever or wherever I so choose, and as often as I like.

This right also extends to the way in which I respond to both threads and posts.

Actually, none of those are rights.

Welcome to VC, don't worry about the rehash/wrong forum stuff. And thanks for taking the links to older threads so graciously! There is a long-term back-and-forth on this topic (not about concert etiquette [although, that too, obviously], but about forum etiquette, and how people respond to new/old threads).

OK, and now I'm just going to apologize for that last sentence, and move on... :wave
