My most recent album just got (self) released. I wrote a blog post about it:

That link has the iTunes and Amazon links. Here's the direct Spotify playlist, if you don't want to mess with the blog post:

Galen Clavio – Chrysalis

If you get a chance to listen, let me know what you think. Thanks.

An old song from one of my 90s bands. Lyrics are just me playing with words. Not much else. But if you can pull some deeper meaning from it, let me know! https://soundcloud.com/poptodd/sub-rosa-3

Nice song, I like the overall vibe of this!

What filter/auto wah are you using? Some cool tunes.

Thanks! I used a variety of different ones on each of the tracks. Some of them were tweaked filters in Logic, while some of them were using Ozone and a couple of other VSTs to modify the sounds on individual tracks.

If there are any in particular that you're interested in, let me know and I can tell you.

So my first "solo" record is being released next month under the moniker Judas Equus.

It's a lo-fi, warts-and-all affair: mistakes were made (unintentionally) and left in (intentionally). I recorded on a 4-track, playing all the instruments myself (electric and accoustic guitars, various types of keys, lap steel, banjo, stylophone, kaossilator, field recordings) using various microphones ranging from half-way-decent studio mics to dictophone mics bought at the local flea-market.

It's far from happy music. The up-beat feel good hit of the summer it is definitely not.  But the cover is cool.  you can listen to a couple of tracks here:

My band has released three new songs for the first time since 2010.  They are part of a Deluxe Edition for our most recent album.  Check em out if you want.  Feedback would be appreciated.

Note "Soldier On" is definitely our most experimental song, and may scare you a bit.. lol

And yes, the cicada's in "Greatest Lie" are real and were recorded outside the studio window.

Well did you have a listen?  What'd you think?

I'm going to checkout your new stuff too when I get home.  I would now, but some dick stole my headphones from my desk.

Typical me: I forgot to listen.

Sorry about that. I had the best of intentions and am listening NOW.

Will post thoughts as soon as I get through the tunes.

Okay, so I am REALLY loving this!

Elements of GBV, but with a more-modern, synth-infused sound. And there's another 90s indie band that I am hearing in there, too, but I can't put my finger on it -- or, rather, can't remember the name.

I do have your first record and this is making me want to go back and put it on again. So I think I will, as soon as I finish the album that I paused to go check out these tunes.

Great production on here, too. You record yourselves in your own space?

Awesome, thanks for the feedback, PT.  Our "fanbase" has dropped off a lot in recent years.  That's what happens when you get married and start having a million kids.  But it's always good to know someone digs our stuff.

Yeah, I have a bedroom in my house converted to a studio.  It's a work in progress but I've been happy with the production too.

Thanks again man, and I'm looking forward to giving your tunes a listen this evening.

I quite dug those songs lam. Nice production and vibe. The middle eastern modal stuff on the last song was cool. What did you play on these?

Thanks for listening and the feedback!  I'm on lead vocals, guitars, drums, sequencing, effects etc.  My wife did the bass on all songs, and the backing vocals on Greatest Lie.

You did a great job with the arrangements and the layering of instruments. That is awesome that your wife plays bass. I wish my girlfriend could play an instrument, it would help me with my own productions. She's a pretty good singer though, so there's that at least.

Thanks GtrPlyr.  It's nice having at least one musician in the band that will always be reliable.  She's sort of my John Stirrat.

PopTodd - I checked out your tunes last night.  I always go back to that "Here" song.  Love that tune, so catchy.  It really could be in a car commercial or something.

Also checked out the acoustic songs, nice work.  I can definitely sense some UT influence in your writing and vocal style.  I'll listen more this weekend.

Thanks, lam!

Yeah, "Here" seems to be the single-type song, I think. And UT definitely had a big influence on my writing… certainly on the more country-twinged stuff.

The group I play drums in is on hiatus (singer has one academic year in Germany), but people have been tossing our videos around on Facebook and reminded me to share.

Here's kind of an R&B number

http://youtu.be/k4lSJx8KVp0

And more of a blistering rocker, guitar solo song:

If anyone here is from the Twin Cities area, my band will be opening this little DIY festival on Saturday afternoon.

Here's a video we shot for a promo (and also our first proper recording  :ike ). Also I wear wig and play a punk song.
