I actually quite like Song For A Son. Nice to see him just quieten down and not strain his already reedy voice by shouting the shit out of it. Nothing majorly amazing about it but it's certainly an ok song.

New song: A Stich in Time

Really great tune, by the way. Nice acoustic, synths and sitars.

From Rolling Stone:

Billy Corgan’s Smashing Pumpkins have unveiled “A Stitch in Time,” the third track from the mammoth 44-song project Teargarden by Kaleidyscope, on Soundcloud and the band’s official Website, where the song — like its Teargarden predecessors — is available as a free download. While Corgan’s previous Teargarden tracks were seemingly Zeppelin-inspired — from the Zoso epic rock of “A Song for a Son” to the Houses of the Holy-flavored “Widow Wake My Mind” — “A Stitch in Time” is as psychedelic as the album’s title itself, a stoned minstrel folk track that sounds like Corgan filled out his new Pumpkins with hired guns from the Elephant 6 collective.

“The song came in during a stream of consciousness moment while sitting backstage at a Pumpkins concert in those wee, still hours between soundcheck and the show. The lyrics came just as surprisingly fast as the music, and the whole process took about 20 minutes,” Corgan said in a Q&A emailed to the press. “I recorded it on my phone, and so for a year it was the only document I had of the song. But the song stuck with me and I put it in my back pocket as something worth coming back to later.” Corgan calls the track a protest song, “What I am protesting I’m not sure but it has something to do with real inner freedom and the consequence of what it means to be free.”

“A Stitch in Time” will be packaged with “A Song for a Son,” “Widow Wake My Mind” and an upcoming track called “Astral Planes” to comprise the first limited edition EP from the Teargarden package. The first EP, Volume 1/Songs For a Sailor, will be released April 20th. As Rolling Stone previously reported, the Teargarden project will yield 11 four-song limited edition EPs, and upon the album’s complete rollout, the entire Teargarden will be released as a whole. Along the way, Corgan will unleash each song from Teargarden as a free download.

The fourth song is out song is out....Astral Planes. A little repetitive for my taste. There is also a fifth song, Teargarden Theme, an instrumental from the secret Record Store Day 7" out there too.

If anything, this song series is making me go back and listen to their old stuff more. Gish and Siamese Dream still slay. I also listened to Machina I & II and Melon Collie for the first times in year. Mellon Collie hasn't aged well but I still liked it. Machina actually aged better than I recalled it. I still love Machina II and is on regular rotation around here.

Yeah, I do miss Jimmy's drumming, but I guess it's a non-issue now. So far, this "album" has been far more entertaining and engaging than their last one. Overall, I think Billy likes this line up more than the last and he's enthusiastic about it and you can really tell by the music.

Judging by his tweets he is majorly enthustiastic about this line up.

Billy Corgan Starts Chicago Wrestling Company

The long-standing relationship between rock music and professional wrestling has a new partner: Billy Corgan.

The Smashing Pumpkins frontman has joined with two wrestling promoter brothers to debut the first show of Resistance Pro, an indie wrestling company, on Friday at a downtown Chicago dance club. Corgan describes himself as a childhood wrestling fan who fell away from it, only to rediscover it as an adult hobby before learning about the business.
