I completed a personal goal for this decade!

Recommended Posts

After saturday night I completed a silly goal I set out for myself back in January 2000. I have now seen at least 1 concert a month the whole decade (yes I keep a list). Actually right now I have seen one a month since April 98...I don't know what to make of it!?

Now my next goal is to visit all 50 states...at 49...I am going to try my absolute hardest to make it to NORTH DAKOTA before I turn 30 in August!

I want to see the list.

I keep lists for every movie that I see in a theater. It helps me to remember certain things.

I should do lists for concerts that I've seen, but as of yet (?) I don't go to many anymore.

Goals: i go to the gym almost every day.

I learned how to spell Connecticut.

The whole list or just the 2000's? I have seen almost 750 concerts to date! The list is 16 pages long in word! :stunned

Yeah sure.

I believe you.

I just can't imagine a band (that's "worth it") coming around to your neck of the woods once a month.

I guess you maybe see lesser known local acts which is great and fine.

I guess to me certain months seem like crap to see a live show like the 1st 3 months of a year.

I can't remember any shows in that quarter except for Jimmy Gnecco in January of 06 and Autumn Defense in March of 07(?).

Depends where you live and how narrow your taste in music is. Here in the LA area, you could see quality live music pretty much every night of the week, and definitely someone "big" and "good" is around at least once a month. I would imagine the same is for any other major metro area.

Ok...I will try and post it later today when I am home. Jimmy Gnecco is great. I seen him solo and Ours maybe 10 times. They are from Bergen County which is where I grew up in Jersey. Also I lived outside of NYC for 25 years so there is always a concert going on! The only hard time I had was at college which was at Penn State but they would get someone decent once a month!

I also have a list of bands I have seen. I am at over 800+ different artist! If I didn't keep a list I would certianly forget who I have seen. The good thing about the list is I can recall where I have been most of the last decade...I am not sure that is a good thing or bad thing.

I haven't smoked since January, I've begun cycling (clocked 500 miles on my new bike, not the most but it's a start), running and wall climbing regularly, and I split up my check deposit at work into a bill account, spending account, and savings account and have stuck with it. Oh, and I went on a nice 5500 mile, 16 state road trip!

Damn, what do you mix drinks with? I could get away with no soda with vodka, but rum or whiskey?

Matt you just a beer drinker? I agree though no soda would be really tough! I guess he can mix with tonic, seltzer or juice... I can't imagine the no soda....I have cut back big time on soda but still have at least 1 or 2 a week.

Yeah, I drink my beer and my whiskey straight. In the interests of full disclosure, I didn't include Seltzer in my definition of soda. This isn't some vegetarian who eats chicken type scenario, though. Seltzer is the only thing that got a pass because it's just water with bubbles. No coke, no sprite, no ginger ale, nothing with bubbles and other crap.

EDIT: this was so much harder than I ever thought it would be. I want a coke almost every day. And just as badly as I wanted one on Jan 2, 2009. It's scary how addictions work. Proof that I needed to give it up, I think.

Don't automatically assume that everyone drinks. ;)

(I can't speak for Matt, of course, but I doubt I've drunk a dozen beers this year, and I've had maybe one drink all year that involved hard liquor.)

edit: D'oh! Matt spoke for himself. :yay

Oh, I wouldn't include seltzer/tonic water/club soda either, as they all lack everything I'd assume you gave up soda for: the sugar/corn syrup, phosphoric acid, etc.

Did you drink an exceptional amount of soda prior to giving it up or did you just decide that you're better off without it?

Real men, like, say, Matt Z, don't water down their booze - they drink it straight and they like it, and when they're done, they immediately order another. Even realer men don't pussy around with glasses, they just drink straight from the bottle.

Lately I would have to agree, I've been getting into bourbons straight, but sometimes I'll be somewhere where they don't have anything I enjoy straight/on the rocks, so I'll mix something like Jack & ginger.

Yeah, I think I was drinking too much of it. Not an insane amount compared to real heavy users, but then, isn't that how all addicts rationalize it? :)
