Guest Speed Racer
In Peru, they would bring out two stairways and load/unload passengers from the front and back of the plane. They do that at O'Hare occasionally, too, and it still takes forever.
jff
They do that at O'Hare occasionally, too, and it still takes forever. Interesting. Pending further review, I'll have to conclude that this is because Peruvians are able to climb stairs much faster than Americans.
Moss
Amazing how much has changed. I remember taking a flight when I was very young and there were these drunk older salesmen looking guys. They were being loud, waving at each other and saying "Hi Jack". All that kind of stuff. I don't remember anybody really batting much of an eye at it. Now whenever I fly it's like a library (I was going to say crypt but that did not seem right). On another note, my brother in law is an airtraffic controller and I notice when he has to work the overnight shift they call it "mids" instead of "Graveyard". Makes sense I guess. Guest Speed Racer
I don't know why I'm still surprised that they really will charge for anything that can feasibly be charged for now. You have to pay to preselect your seats!? And if you don't (as I found today), the seats are all filled! Had to pay twenty #@%&ing dollars to get an exit row for my flight tomorrow because everything else was booked. Ponied up $18 more to buy seats for my three subsequent flights. (Don't people realize that if no one buys seats ahead of time, none of us have to pay!?) Granted, my total fair still came out to less than $200, which is still pretty fantastic considering. I'll admit, I threw up a little when I realized that AirTran, which I fly quite a bit, is the new name for ValuJet.
Doug C
Ha ha on the AirTran/ValuJet. I use them in economics class when we are learning about the reasons for mergers, one of which is to lose a negative corporate identity.
