willywoody
This is pathetic. I know ya gotta pay for the Bentley but wouldn't adding an extra night in Milwaukee suffice? http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123672740386088613.html?mod=googlenews_wsj
Winston Legthigh
1) If someone wants to pay $100s over face value for Neil Diamond tix, fuck em.2) If someone wants to pay $100s over face value for Neil Diamond tix, then why shouldn't Neil Diamond get that money? Neil Diamond would be the first to know if the market wasn't there for expensive Neil Diamond tix. If the market can bear it, then bless him.

Scalping is a sleazy business. It's a shot to the artist, sure, when secondary tickets are sold at gouged prices, but because the artist is doing it him/herself doesn't make it less sleazy. It's deceitful and a slap in the face to the fan to hold tickets aside in order to sell them at inflated prices. Just because there are knuckleheads willing to pay those prices doesn't make it ok, imo. Sell them at the inflated after-sale price to begin with, then, if that's what "the market will bear" and be up front about the greed and illusion. Preying upon the boneheads is wrong even if the boneheads don't realize it. I think these bits of the article say it all from artists that practice this: "Spokesmen for Bon Jovi and Ms. Dion had no comment. A spokesman for Van Halen said that the band could not be reached. A booking agent for Messrs. Joel and John did not respond to requests for comment.""Ms. Spears' spokeswoman declined to comment."
Good Old Neon
The worst part, for me, is that the performers who engage in these practices, are the same artists who, because they are filthy rich beyond what most of their fans could ever imagine, could charge $5 or less per ticket, and still never have to worry about running out of money. So fuck em. Edit: With that said, if someone with enough disposable income burning through their pocket wants to spend several hundred dollars to attend a concert by a washed out has been band way beyond their prime, or one that lip syncs to their own CD, well, fuck them too. Cheapest seats were $91. Too expensive, therefore I'm not going. That's how it works. But, I'm sure some superfan who has less disposable income than me will snatch those seats up. How that $91 gets split, nobody knows... I don't begrudge Neil. I fully agree that scalping is sleazy. But, I'd rather that money go to the artist than some middleman. The artist/promoter, whoever, sets the bar for ticket prices. If the artist wants to raise that bar further, fine, be a douche. And those who actually pay that price, fine be a douche. What if Wilco did that same? You know what? I would probably be a douche.

Maybe I am not too embarrased to admit it but I did see Neil Diamond at MSG. He played 4 shows there recently and the ebay market was flooded. I ended up with 200 level tickets for $20 a piece and my wife and I had a great time even though we were the youngest people at the conert by I dunno 50 years!

The Inside of Outside
Just feels slimy to me. Underhanded, not upfront. A lack of transparency.
