pathfire
Anyone heard any more news about this Hipstamatic contest? Curious what photos the band picked for the cassette and when the cassette will be released etc...

choo-choo-charlie
That's a helluva jacket. I knew someone that had one with Def Leppard and Motley Crue patches...
jcroach
That's a helluva jacket. I knew someone that had one with Def Leppard and Motley Crue patches... These were all the rage when in was in Junior High in the late 80s.
LittleSavage
The cassettes are up for sale now at the Wilco Store. $25.
smells like flowers
The fine print says don't be alarmed if the jewel case isn't in perfect condition, e.g., is scratched or has scuff marks. Wouldn't it be cool if they rounded up a bunch of existing cassette cases and re-used them for The Whole Love? There must be a gazillion of those things still around... mdpoet
For those who have purchased the cassette and received it...what cover art did you get? Mine has the baby chick on it.
Firecracker Kid
Mine has the blue sky with what appears to be part of a ferris wheel in the corner (Navy Pier perhaps?). Also, the plastic jewel case was smashed to hell, so they definitely weren't kidding when they said they may not be in perfect shape.
keithdylan
Got mine and it was the baby chick cover also. I know this wasn't suposed to be the ultimate way to listen to the album, and it is for charity, but couldn't they have used chrome tape? It really couldn't have cost THAT much more. bjorn_skurj
I love Wilco, but this is a dumb idea. Vinyl records are one thing - you can make a sound argument for their sonic superiority - but take it from your Uncle Bjorn - commercial cassette tapes always blew. Shakespeare In The Alley
but they're clearly aware it's a total novelty item and theyre not making an attempt to bring back an format that died for a reason. i'd never buy one myself, but i think it's a neat idea, especially with the different covers and whatnot. bjorn_skurj
Whatevs. You can play your cassette, plug in your from-eBay Atari and jam out on Asteroids, but you will never be able to recreate the '80s, and trust me, that's a good thing.
