ghostisborn
So Wilco is completely skipping over Florida on this tour. Needless to say, I'm deeply upset. A while back the band directly replied to my comment on their facebook saying "Florida will happen...as it always does", but it doesn't seem like it'll happen anytime soon.I've been occasionally making remarks on their facebook encouraging them to come down to Pensacola to hide from the snow, to no avail. As someone who leaves Florida every summer to go to Solid Sound, it's time for Wilco to return the favor and come to me! (Especially for all the fans who can't get out to Massachusetts every Summer...) Thoughts? Any other bitter Floridians out there?
suites
For those who have been on this board since the beginning will remember that I was the original Florida voice. So I will second your frustration. Come on wilco come to Florida. We have the best weather in the winter and my wife will cook you up the best pasta and meatballs. smells like flowers
I've been having the same panic lately! I live in North Florida and got to enjoy the band once in Gainesville and twice in Jacksonville. What with rumors that Solid Sound 2012 isn't a sure thing (scattered about on this forum in the past month or so), and no Southeast tour dates announced for 2012... It makes a girl downright anxious! If it's true that they might skip a year on Solid Sound because of extensive touring in support of The Whole Love, then hopefully during the spring or summer months the band will come back to FLA. But I'm definitely starting to jones that I don't have a chance to get a fix for the (Wilco) fits. Whither Wilco???
Mr. Heartbreak
I will pile on. I have seen them every tour in FL since 1999, sometimes multiple shows on the same tour - 2002 comes to mind - and this year I went all the way to Atlanta to catch them. Can't afford to do that again any time soon, but I wanted to hear some of the new record live. For the record, I would pay for another show if they tour The Whole Love through FL, but I don't think I would travel out of state again....It's just too damn expensive. smells like flowers
When you look at the map on the wilcoworld website, you can see the entire southeast coast has had zero shows for this tour. So, as hope springs eternal, I'm holding out for another eastern leg of the tour later in 2012. Or Solid Sound. Must have one or the other -- ideally both!
peteboiler
I live in Melbourne, which is about halfway down the East Coast. Luckily, when they did the EVENING WITH tour a couple of years ago, I got to see them across the state in Clearwater. This tour, however, I saw that no plans were made for FLA, so I got some tickets for me and my gal, and we flew to Indy for the tour opener. What a lucky couple we were! Magnetized
Yeah, those of us who are not lucky enough to live near major metropolitan areas are used to having to travel to see Wilco. I consider anything that's within a 4 or 5 hour drive to be within my range for seeing this band. But I do empathize with the southern FLA people in particular, since it's a 4 hour drive to just get up to the "mainland." I still think that there will be some kind of an east coast tour announced soon. And I'm hoping beyond hope for another Solid Sound this summer.
gogo
It's been a while since I moderated anything, but I moved this one to Just a Fan, since I think that's a more appropriate spot for this discussion.

suites
For some reason I feel good about them announcing some FLA dates when they do the next leg (April 2011). Just have a feeling.
rockinrob
I have been a fan since 2004, and I live in tampa. I have seen them in 2005 (AGIB), 2006(Kicking Television), 2008(Sky Blue Sky), 2009 (wta) and 2010(Evening With). They have never played florida for the first tour from an album, but ALWAYS on the 2nd or third tour. You might have to drive to jacksonville, or to clearwater, but they have always played here. Don't worry too much about it. I don't know why florida always gets left behind with concerts, but that is just how it is.

I can tell you why FLA gets the shaft a lot. #1 it is out of the way, #2 fans usually stink, #3 not know for following Indi bands. Most of the "Big" acts find their way down here......But last time Wilco came down to South FLA at the Fillmore on South Beach...they sold it out.

I had just recently moved to Tallahassee when they played there in 2006, and I was shocked that they didn't sell out a pretty small venue there (The Moon). It was mid-week, I believe, but still I thought it was really weird. Turned out to be a terrific show, though--seemed like they had something to prove, and they had the crowd eating out of their hands by the end. I got out of FLA in 2008.
