choo-choo-charlie
Just posted that over here: http://viachicago.org/topic/47075-been-posted/. Cool footage.
Albert Tatlock
Wonderful. I like how there's only 1 person in charge in that room :-) .. and probably only Brits will get this :- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=by-pwTjZwn0
Albert Tatlock
Also, if that meant nothing to you, then this Tavi character means nothing to me:- Watch Jeff Tweedy's Son Spencer's Video for Wilco's "Whole Love" It seems unlikely that Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy and teen fashion blogger-turned-media empress Tavi Gevinson travel in the same social circles. And yet, here is Tavi, starring in the music video for “Whole Love.” The link between the two turns out to be Tweedy’s teenage son, Spencer, who directed the clip and cast the Rookie editor in it along with some other friends and his younger brother. The gold-tinged, and occasionally black-and-white, video has a Super 8 vibe, and is replete with gleeful, childish goofing. Olds (and by that we mean 20-somethings), beware — the 21st-century, indie-rock Brat Pack is coming for you. http://www.pitchfork...cos-whole-love/
AJ673
Awesome impromto video - how many great jams have come out of backstage dressing room sessions? Zorin Orlic does video now?
Magnetized
Also, if that meant nothing to you, then this Tavi character means nothing to me:- http://www.pitchfork...cos-whole-love/For anyone who's interested (and I was/am) Tavi is Tavi Gevinson, another of the ridiculously precocious young people in the greater orbit of the Tweedys. I've been following Spencer Tweedy's blog for years (www.spencertweedy.com). I started because of the Wilco connection, of course, but I've grown to really appreciate it on its own terms. I love watching the emotional/artistic development of an emerging talent. I cannot believe he's just 16, and I think it's going to be amazing to see what he does with his life. So anyway, the Tavi connection--she's one of Spencer's longtime friends (same age, I think) and I discovered her first through his blog, but then started checking in occasionally on her own work. One is older, called www.thestylerookie.com (there was even an entire feature article about her in The New Yorker a year or so ago--she's a sort of fashion icon!) but she now has a newish blog for teenage girls, called www.rookiemag.com. It's not what I think of as a typical teenage girl site, though. She recently posted an amazing collection of Sue Miller Tweedy's childhood and young adult photos that I found fascinating: http://rookiemag.com/2011/12/memory-lane/. Also, Spencer wrote a really insightful article about puberty and depression, here: http://rookiemag.com/2011/12/about-a-boy/. I realize all this stuff veers into close-to-creepy fixation territory, but it's interesting to me, and for any of you so inclined, I would recommend checking it out. Albert Tatlock
Thanks for the explanation :-) So here's mine...Sir Nicholas now has a passing resemblance to Harry Worth, a British TV sketch show comedian of the 60s / 70s, famous for 'doing a Harry Worth' in the opening credits to his show. I think there's actually an Elvis Costello song that gives him a name check. I have been know to do it myself - though it has been a few years. Perhaps I need to pull one out next time I'm out shopping. More up to date, and as a sort of homage to that sort of bumbling old comedian character, I would recommend the BBC radio shows of Steve Delaney, in character as 'Count arthur Strong'.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Count_Arthur_Strong's_Radio_Show! In case you haven't guessed, I am probably more of a comedy buff than a music buff, and the main reason I latched onto Wilco in particular is because of JT's sense of humour. I have no little pleasure in telling you that, via a US VC friend who waited backstage, I once (via her) gave a double CD copy of The Mighty Boosh's BBC radio series to JT - only to find it on the shelf at the Loft in that big zoom pic they had up for a while (still up?). Glad they might have got some inspiration from it ... :-) Having said all that, I don't think I'll be spending any time following teenage girl fashion ha ha! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKhawkQQQmY
Albert Tatlock
And while I'm at it (last one I promise), always a real favourite of mine given a stripped down performance http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTCQdmIQong

Ghost of Electricity
Good times. I wonder how much rehearsal went into that- that "and and and" rising harmony is not a SOB to nail.
