anthony
http://music.msn.com...ure/?photoidx=7 Wilco, "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" (2002) Wilco's fourth was the Americana equivalent of "Kid A," interweaving traditional techniques with electronics, ditching genre-stalwart status to break new ground. The album's curious journey underscored big changes afoot, too. Rather than cave to record label pressure to commercialize their sound, Wilco bought back their own record and streamed it gratis on the Internet. The commercial physical release, months later, almost seemed an afterthought.
JAK2112
Cool that Wilco was included, but that has to be one of THE WORST "best of" lists i've ever seen for many many reasons
GtrPlyr
Cool that Wilco was included, but that has to be one of THE WORST "best of" lists i've ever seen for many many reasonsYeah, I stopped scrolling through the list after about 5 or 6 entries, couldn't take any more. anthony
Terrible list. Anything with the Black Eyed Peas loses all credibility.
Guest Jules
What? Not hip enough?
bleedorange
Actually, it looks like a pretty good list. The only questionable thing about it would be the inclusion of Dylan's Love and Theft.
theashtraysays
"Essential" is in the eye of the beholder.
Sweet Papa Crimbo
What? Not hip enough? I don't know...but when I think essential music of the century, I'm thinking M.I.A.. Miranda Lambert, Justin Timberlake. Then the lithium kicks in.
Shakespeare In The Alley
but that timberlake album kicks ass
JAK2112
I have less of a problem with timberlake, and more with including Brad Paisley and the Black Eyed Peas. And even though i'm a huge TVOTR fan, their inclusion on this list seemed very strange and out of place.
