Wilco possibly headlining LouFest?

Recommended Posts

I thought the order of the billing was shocking too. But they were on the same line, in the same size font. So maybe The Killers will headline the first night and Wilco the second? That's the only thing that seems halfway logical.

Usually a listing like this at a festival would mean: The Killers headline Sunday and Wilco will headline Saturday, still not sure I'm driving 5 hrs, would like to see how long a set time they get.

Try & contact the Festival...and I'd really recommend that...

I'm going to Nelsonville, partly because the Fest looks great (& I've got other business around that area & that was a great way to handle biz with a dose of pleasure), but also because the Festival organizers assured me that Wilco is getting to play a full 2 & 1/2 hours if they want it.

I went to Philly/Camden last year where they barely played 90 min. & that was a drive to see a truncated "Festival" length set...sometimes Fest & Casino shows are full length & great & sometimes they are abbreviated...good to find out...

and yet here is a reply from someone at Nelsonville just yesterday (4/30):

"We have not finalized the set and stage schedule yet. Once they are finalized we will give them out publicly.

Wilco will be playing towards the end of the day on Saturday.

Keep a look out on the website/facebook/twitter for schedule announcements but it will probably be a couple weeks still."

I spoke to someone directly, who then checked with the heads of the whole thing & called me back, specifically about Wilco.

They are still firming things up...but...from all I was told, Wilco is THE headliner on Saturday, playing last & they've allotted 150 minutes for them to play, if needed. I also believe, if I am remembering correctly, that Mavis Staples will be preceeding them...which also leads me to believe there's a good chance we'll see Jeff on during her set, & her on during Wilco's set.

So, yeah, they are still working out the finer details, but... I was assured about the Wilco related details.

I told them I'd be traveling a relatively long distance & that I didn't want another situation like with Philly/Camden where they were playing a shorter set....even before she double checked with the head honchos, she let me know that the headliners were traditionally given plenty of room to stretch out & do full shows (recent years had included Yo La Tengo & The Flaming Lips- two other faves of mine...)
