Said this in the After the Show thread and I'll say it again here: This song still sounds good today, but I don't think it's played with the same energy and spirit as seen here. In this video, Tweedy wasn't that far removed from the migraines and addiction that fueled the manic guitar playing on AGIB. It's absolutely gut-wrenching and soulful. When I hear this at a modern-day Wilco show, it's performed very well and still rocks, but it sounds like a tune that's been performed hundreds of times and doesn't have the freshness that you see here.

This is still in the top 10 most important rock guitar pieces for me.  It's up there near Marquee Moon in my book.

I just watched it again and it's absolutely mesmerizing. It's amazing to have such close-up footage--the visuals really help convey the intensity.
