Albert Tatlock
"The Wilco singer says Daniel Johnston epitomizes his mostly instinctual creative process." I really connected with the comments on melody being the driver - probably the single reason I am the fan that I am. The mumbled vocals explanation means that as well as being 'the American Radiohead', Wilco missed out on a chance of being 'the American Sigur Ros' :-) Interesting tidbit - I'll Sing It dates back to the Being There era. http://www.theatlantic.com/entertainment/archive/2014/09/jeff-tweedys-subconscious-songwriting/380290/?single_page=true
lost highway
I love hearing his methods, one, but two, the fact that he's so unpretentious about it. When he says this way of writing isn't unprecedented, the Stones wrote some material this way etc.
Mr. Heartbreak
Thanks for posting that. Pretty amazing: I had always figured he had to be the kind of writer who pens lyrics like Via Chicago or I Am Trying to Break Your Heart and then has to go find a melody for them. That it is the opposite is really quite stunning. Very gifted guy.
ringo444
That really is the best Jeff Tweedy interview/article I've ever read. Thanks for posting.

worldrecordplayer
The writer called Sukierae a "two disc tour de force." (just put that in the other thread before seeing this one) Sent from my Windows Phone using Tapatalk

I have a feeling that's not how he writes every song, I think he has ideas and phrases in mind, you can read Adult Head and get the sense that he has a framework for certain songs and then he crafts those to work within a more structured song, he is indeed a very gifted person!
