CortezTheKiller
Intriguing cover. Considering how much I respect your taste in music, I am inclined to check this out.
GtrPlyr
Intriguing cover. Considering how much I respect your taste in music, I am inclined to check this out. Was my first spin of this one. Listened while making dinner. Pretty enjoyable country record, gonna return to this one for sure. Ry Cooder produced and plays guitar on it, and there are appearances by members of My Morning Jacket, Dawes and Punch Brothers for what it's worth. p.s. thanks for the kind words, the feeling is mutual. BobDylan'sBeard
Finally listened to the new Jason Isbell album (Star Wars overshadowed it for me) - WOW! What a great record! I had been indifferent to Jason Isbell before, mostly out of ignorance to much of his work, but this album is really good. It's been a great summer for music,
uncool2pillow
It is VERY good. Back up and pay more attention to Southeastern. Something More Than Free may grow on me more than Southeastern, but right now that's a top 5 record for me. It was my introduction to Isbell. Saw him live 3 times in 13 months and he's quickly becoming my favorite.
Chez
^^^ I kind of have a different opinion. For all the reasons I love Star Wars (e.g. it represents a brave departure from the arc Wilco was following), I'm a bit disappointed in the new Isbell record. I think it sounds like Southeastern Part 2. Great songs, but nothing that really grabs me or gets me excited. After three listens, I find it a tad boring -- and this from a guy who loves DBT and the songs Jason contributed while he was in the band. I've enjoyed all of Jason's solo albums, but perhaps success (critical and popular) has made Isbell unwilling to push the borders of the sweet spot he's found.

GtrPlyr
Advance copy? How is it? The dude is pretty consistent, another strong record. I like how he's used little between song segues to make the album flow together nicely. Not sure where'd I'd rank this compared to his other releases yet, but it's a worthy addition to the catalog for sure.

He sounds a bit like Don Williams meets John Denver. Either way, a great voice. Thanks for the tip.
