bböp
Well, have at it, show attendees. Or don’t…whatever you prefer. Here was the complete setlist, according to the Wilcoworld authorities: Spiders (Kidsmoke) (acoustic arrangement, l’m assuming, like the other time they opened with it on this run)> Wishful Thinking Evicted Handshake Drugs Meant To Be I Am Trying To Break Your Heart If I Ever Was A Child I Am My Mother Cruel Country War On War Hummingbird Quiet Amplifier Side With The Seeds Box Full Of Letters Annihilation Via Chicago Bird Without A Tail/Base Of My Skull Either Way Impossible Germany Jesus, etc. Heavy Metal Drummer I’m The Man Who Loves You ————————————————— California Stars Falling Apart (Right Now) Walken I Got You (At The End Of The Century)
!goose!
why only two cuts off of cousin? glad they dusted off the acoustic spiders and walken/either way. not attending this particular tour but I guess this is no longer a part of the "cousin" tour?

And that’s twice the usual for a lot of shows on this run; before they added Meant To Be a few shows ago, it was usually only Evicted (though to be fair, they have released a new EP since Cousin and are playing one cut off that every night). But yeah, I’d say this is more of just standard touring with a mix of everything, rather than an emphasis on any one record.
SarahC
2 songs or so after “Spiders” somebody yelled out for ”spiders” again, and Jeff said “we just played it!” and the person yelled out “itsy bitsy Spiders” and Jeff said “that was the itsy bitsy version”. I think we ought to rename this arrangement the “itsy bitsy version. Jeff told some really funny stories— one about how when he was a kid his family took a road trip down to FL and they stopped in Chattanooga. He said they went to Lookout Mtn (I’m guessing they visited Rock City). Said he didn’t remember anything about the beach, but he did remember Lookout Mtn. And he was “born a dad” which was very cute. Jeff also struggle at one point to remove his jean jacket. Barely getting out of it in time to start the next tune. After the song he said “that was a Houdini move” I had a great time at this show. I thought it was on par with Nashville Friday in terms of energy.
Firecracker Kid
Solid, workmanlike performance from the band. Typical standing/seating conundrum you get at these theater shows. Thankfully, it being Mother’s Day and a Sunday night likely contributed to the crowd being relatively laid back. Also, unfortunately due to ongoing renovations, they weren’t able to play in the historic Tivoli Theater, which is just around the corner from this venue. The room wasn’t bad per se (and the sound was quite good), but it was kind of par for the course in terms of it probably being one of those shows that will get lost in the catacombs of my dusty old brain. The only memorable point I can think of was Jeff bringing out what looked to be a glass of iced tea to the stage for the encore. I can’t recall the last time I saw him with a beverage when he wasn’t clearly having voice issues. And as SarahC mentioned, he stripped his jacket off mid-set. I dare mention the short sleeve shirt he was sporting in San Antonio earlier in the week. Maybe he’ll be in shorts by the summer run. 🤣 Hot Jeff Cool Shorts. 1

I’ve seen those legs and, well…I’m sure Jeff would say something similar. Plus, no shorts on stage. It’s the rules, at least for any respectable act. (I guess there are exceptions. Like I’m pretty sure The Beths wear shorts on stage a lot, but they’re Kiwis so it’s endearing somehow.) But for the vast majority of bands, it should be a mantra. Live it, love it. Though I guess we’ll know when Wilco’s jumped the shark if we suddenly see John in a pair of cutoffs or something…
calvino
Bah - us heads have been dealing with shorts and kilts (not to mention - pink guitars and fake snakes) for many decades. At a Halloween 2015 show, JRAD poked fun of Weir's 80's attire: (sorry for the digression - back Wilco)

SarahC
Here's a photo from Chattanooga. I made it my desktop on my work computer. Really still so tickled they played here. I keep checking youtube to see if anybody took videos. Nothing yet. A coworker who also went told me she thought the acoustic version of "Spiders(Kidsmoke)" sounded like the music you'd hear on Scooby Doo. It made me laugh pretty hard, I bet Jeff would think it was funny too, though definitely not what they were going for. chattanooga-show-last-night-5-11-25-v0-yya281ixmc0f1 (1).webp
