Jon Papelbon is the best baseball thread ever
cryptique replied to bobbob1313's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
Crap. I thought Crede might come through, but alas. -
We enjoyed this, but we had a bit more time to spend and were less constrained in terms of budget. It's probably something you can skip if you're just in town for the day. I second Pike Place Market -- that's the most recognizable landmark in Seattle aside from the Space Needle (which is right next to EMP), and it's fun to walk around. Be sure to explore the lower levels too.

Roads were caused by many people needing to travel between two points. Because hoofing it over rough terrain proved to be difficult, roads were devised to smooth the way (also making it easier to use wheeled conveyances). Eventually, as vehicles got heavier, roads began to be paved so that they remained passable even after heavy use. Any other questions?

I'm too sexy for this thread.

You mean you don't want to be like IRememberDBoon?

How would I know?

Who the fuck is Beatle Bob, and why should I care about his dumbass thread?

The surprise of the night (for me, anyway) was how damn good Crosby sounded. He had more power in his voice than the other three combined, and sounded as good as he did in the '60s. He moves rather slowly and just when I started to think that maybe he's not all there -- he hauls off and belts out the best lead vocals of the night. Played some sweet fingerpicked acoustic guitar later on, too.

Not until Christmas, probably. In the meantime, I can send you a copy of a hidden-camera video in which ction re-enacts the entire book by himself, using only a cucumber and a box of 128 Crayolas. And he's nude.

It's "highy." And if I recall correctly, the proper syntax is "OMG just answer the question, you highy messed up freaks!" A few of these smilies also helps.

IRDB, why do you hate Wilco? I am not going to take the bait. Books like this aren't worth the effort.

Got back from CSNY at 1 AM last night, so that's pretty much what I look like this morning. Wendy and thisyearsgirl had a lot further to drive than I did, though.

I yelled for "Long Time Ago" and Jeff heard me

Every time I yell at some band to "play that one song!" sure enough, they do. -
I didn't eat the lunch I brought yesterday because we ordered out. So I left it in the fridge, planning to eat it today. This morning I came in to find a note on that fridge that says "This refrigerator no longer works. Everything inside is now room temperature." The person who posted the note took the time to go back to his cube, write up a note, grab a piece of tape, come back to the kitchen, and tape the thing to the door of the fridge -- but couldn't be bothered to take any of the stuff in that fridge and put it into the OTHER, HALF-EMPTY FRIDGE THAT'S RIGHT NEXT TO IT. Sometimes I r

He never met a thread he didn't start. -
Try not. Do. Or do not. There is no try.

It's one that came with an old Philips portable CD player I bought over a decade ago. You can probably buy more or less the same thing at Radio Shack. Interesting. Mine plugs into the headphone jack of my player (non-iPod), and it sounds great. If there's a way to do with from the USB port, I suppose that might be better, though I really wouldn't know.

...and then tell us all about it!!!

Yeah, using a cassette adapter is much better than one of those FM transmitters. Those things blow serious chunks. My next car will hopefully have some kind of input jack that I can plug my non-iPod player into. If it doesn't, I guess I'll have to upgrade the stereo.

Dr. Phil.

Weird -- I, too, was absolutely certain that he'd died years ago. Maybe I was confusing the actor with his character in Superman. Ford was one of those guys who just seemed at ease on film. Despite thinking he'd been dead for, oh, twenty years or so, I'm sad to hear he's now (officially) gone.

What the heck are you driving, anyway? A Sherman tank?

This is one of the reasons I rip to .OGG instead of .MP3. However, doing so has severely limited my choices in digital music players. That said, I have no problem with 256 kbps (or higher) MP3s. At bitrates like that, if something sounds bad, it's probably due to a shitty digital transfer during the manufacturing of the CD itself. This is especially prevalent with older material that hasn't been subject to a recent, gussied-up remaster.
