they DO allow mp3s.... that is, most shows i've seen up there have flacs AND mp3s. i think maybe they don't allow shows that are mp3 sourced and only available in mp3, but mp3s definitely DO go up there.
I think that it's only up to the uploader to chose whether his recording will be available in mp3 format or ot.
If selected, The mp3 conversion is done by the site itself. One high quality mp3 version + one low quality (64kb I think) for online streaming.

Many thanks to Ninjas E. Liverwurst for the letter .
Fingers crossed !

I'm off to see the band this evening in my hometown, Brussels (Belgium)
I'll go early, so if I got the chance to meet any member of the band outside the venue I might pass the word

Good deal.
Indeed.
Whatever happens next I'm already glad to read all the comments about people willing to help.
(I've got at least 60+ Wilco and 20+ Tweedy shows I can share (1995-2007), mainly sbd)

Hey, all those messages sound promising.
Let's first get in touch with the management and hope they agree .
I'll have to leave this task up to you english speaking fans (although the band seems to enjoy Belgium a lot this year, I'm not sure my english and nationality would serve the cause well enough )
Samuel

...nd also, work on the list of shows out there right now + what I have.
I'll do the same and, if it turns out well, we can share the upload task.
Of course the more uploaders, the better !

Ms. Kidsmoke is ok with this - we need to write a letter to send to Wilco management.
Any good writer around here ?

I know this thread belongs to the "In the future age" section, but I would like to have the opinion of most of you guys.
You probably know the great Archive.org website, if not go and discover the Ali Baba's cave. Amazing bands list here.
As an example, just check out Ryan Adams section over there. 218 shows available in lossless format, mostly soundboards/matrix from 1998 until the latest show 7 days ago !
I was wondering why Wilco is not yet present amongst the bands and recordings featured on the website.
Wilco is a taper friendly band so I guess they'd agree with fans uploading shows to the Archive and have more people discover the great live band Wilco is.
Here's the pre-requisite to post shows at the Archive.org :
We'd like to make sure that a trade-friendly band would not mind having their shows in the Archive for public download. The best way for us to find out is by getting permission from a band representative or by the band's having an explicit
policy that covers this type of site. If there are no shows by the band, either we don't have enough of this information
to go forward with archiving, they have declined participation, or we are ready to accept shows but no one has uploaded
anything yet. (Also, see the band status FAQ).
So, anyone ever tried to have Wilco present on the Archive ? Is there any management restriction already mentioned ?
If not, I'd be happy uploading a lot of shows I own (lossless). Hope we can join forces and make it the one place to bring freely Wilco shows to the masses.
Cheers,
Samuel

I would be happy to help on this project.
I'll have a look on Archive.org and see how this stuff works...
(Damn, check out the Ryan Adams section at Archive.org, 218 shows, mostly soundboards...!)

Plus - I can tell you after recently searching for Wilco shows on various BT sites, you are not going to find that many shows older than the last year or so. I did see some from the late 90s/early 00's - but not very many.
Correct. But some great shows are still gracefully available at the "Owl & the Bear" website http://www.owlandbear.com/live-downloads/
....and indeed using the great Archive.org site would be fantastic .
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's not mandatory to upload the shows in mp3 format, so the source is preserved.
If anyone wants to create a Wilco section on Archive.org (provided Wilco management agree), I'd be happy to upload a lot of the shows I have (lossless) .
That might be worth a new thread, isn't it ?

if it's due to illness, that would be the easiest explanation to accept, but we've been told there's a 'schedule conflict'..
How about scheduled illness, uh ?
-
So, to answer the question; no there isn't.
Hang on...how about those 2 :
1) Edgefield Troutdale, OR 2007-08-22
Source : SBD-AUD Matrix. Original notes from thir13en :
-The SBD connection had "issues" that made the right side unusable for the first 1/4 of the show (transition is around 01:57 of "Shot In The Arm"), so it's a
mono mixed SBD that is assisted in gaining a more natural spread by the stereo AUD. After that, it's a nice fully dynamic mix from both sources.
-The SBD source probably died from length of the show (2+ hours) and cuts off 13 (hello!) minutes shy of the actual shows end. So the AUD takes that part on
it's own, which is a much less offensive crime when it's such a nice source as YLTfan often provides. Basically, it's all good.
Download here : http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=160700
2) Hamburg, Germany, Grosse Freiheit 2007-05-25
Source : FM-tuner - iRiver H120 (wav-recording)...ok, it's a radio fm recording, but still.
Download here : http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=161958
However, It's just real bad luck that the taper had technical issues as he's the first one allowed to patch the sbd since the beginning of this tour....
The remaining question is why did Stan allow a patch to the sbd on that particular day ?
Cheers,
Samuel

Nice. I would love to give it a listen and see if I could make a decent matrix mix of the broadcast and the audience recording. PM if I can help in any way.
A Broadcast/Aud matrix ! Now that's something new to me
I'm really curious to hear it.
Samuel

Is there anyway to get this to mp3?!?!
....It's only a 64kbps broadcast...
-
i think it was about 60 mins of it... i'll see if i have the file still at home. it was quite distorted though
Thanks Froggie, but I already have that one.
Pretty distorted indeed...
Cheers,

Hey Sam! Sorry but no, don't have it. But good to see another Irish fan here. Don't suppose you're heading to the November shows?
Hey David, sorry to disappoint you but I'm Belgian. I just love Ireland, I've been traveling through your lovely country about 10 times and I really enjoy it.
I just flew to Dublin especially for Jeff's solo gig at Vicar Str.
Unfortunately I won't be able to make it to Dublin this year, but I'll be at their show in Brussels on Nov 6...that's gonna be Wilco's 3rd show in Belgium this year (Ghent, Dour festival & now Brussels)
As for the recording from last year, I'm not expecting much. I didn't hear/read much about it by then anyway. Too bad.
Cheers.

I just read this review from the great Owl's blog :
"..and rumors are floating around that this show was professionally video-recorded."
http://www.owlandbear.com/2007/09/19/revie...vilion-chicago/
Anyone noticed any video equipment during the show ?
Samuel

Hi,
Just throwing a bottle into the sea...
Does anyone have a recording of Jeff's solo show from last year in Dublin Vicar Str. ?
Cheers.
Samuel
-
Still no trace of the recording, but at least there's a bunch of videos from the Paradiso show on Youtube :

Thanks for the info J.
Anyone able to tape this ?
Cheers.

You've got it, haven't you!
I used to be a completist...

Didn't Neil Young come up with a similarly grim electronic experiment in the 80s??
That's right. The album is called "Trans" (1982)....far from his best apparently.

That reminds me of that thread a few months back about that website listing all those "bands that are Gay or propagating a Gay message"
...Wilco included...I'm still not sure whether that kind of crap makes me or
