  1. Marc was the man. He was like 5'5", but in gear between the heels in the hat he was like, 6'5". That's a trooper right there.
  2. Due to your avatar...I just got the image of you taking off a giant Bolanesque top hat. It made me laugh.
  3. ABBA Anything that's been featured on the show Yacht Rock.
  4. This is a good one but saying it's better than All Apologies is kind of silly. As for other overrated albums: Sorry my psychedelic loving friends, never got a lick of anything out of this one.
  5. I can think of about 10 Nirvana songs I like more than any Dino Jr song. Mascis is a better guitar player sure, but I haven't heard too many Dino songs I'd consider out and out classics. "Freak Scene" and maybe "Little Furry Things" hold upto Cobain's best, but that's about it by my ears. And for the record, I actually find the David Bowie cover kind of boring, it's better than the original (probably the only Bowie song Nirvana could pull off better than an original) but I find The cover of Leadbelly's "Where Did You Sleep Last Night?" is much more inspiring.
  6. No love for Sister? Depending on what you're into (and I'm a bit more into noise than some people) Bad Moon Rising and EVOL are great too.
  7. Please don't list funeral next to those other albums, k thnx.
  8. I put I love them, but I just want to clarify; so much of what I find compelling is Mangum as a lyricist and vocalist. He's just an awesome presence. Truthfully, I don't think his melodic skills are that much greater than other E6 members. I think there are actually just as many great melodies from the OTC, but the songs don't connect emotionally the same way.
  9. Random fact, Thurston Moore once tried to convince J Mascis to join Nirvana after Barlow left Dinosaur, and their future was in doubt. This was in the late 80s though, so Mascis was pretty incredulous about joining a band that at the time, only had a single out, and an LP forthcoming.
  10. I always found it ironic that despite being a vinyl afficianado, Wilco's albums fit so poorly on vinyl. A Standard vinyl with proper run out and run in grooves is about 47 minutes. Wilco's albums tend between 50-60 which falls in the range of "Not enough to justify a double vinyl, but 10 minutes too long for a single vinyl."
  11. Pearl Jam- Ten It always baffled me how this got called Alternative when it basically pedalled the same sort of corporate rock schlock riffs that had dominated Radio since the mid-70s. Pearl Jam had about as much to do with Punk as Aerosmith did. The White Stripes- Elephant It has maybe 4 okay songs. It has nothing worth being considered legendary. The Arcade Fire- Funeral. It's not a bad album. It's just been done before. "Rebellion (Lies)', "Neighborhood #1" and "Wake Up" are great singles, but I sort of feel like other songs on the album fail to live upto that promise.
  12. I'd actually take it over the vast majority of Sky Blue Sky.
  13. it'll probably the bonus import track.
  14. No...that was a song about DREAMING ABOUT killing someone. This is a song about having actually killed someone. I guess Tweedy's characters are more proactive than they used to be.
  15. "My Country Has Disappeared" Wake up we're here So much less than you feel There's nothing left here my country has disappeared The thinker tree's bleeding leaf red blood The Summer sweet dreaming In through the blush A whole lot is ending (___) much too new Hold out your hand There's so much you don't understand so stick as close as you can to all our best-laid plans you've got the white clouds hanging tonight above you you've got the helicopters dangling angling to shoot The shots to feed the hungry weekend news crew angle I won't take no I won't let you go All Out by yourself I
  16. I can already hear all the big burly convicts singing in unison to him in the shower..."BE MY BE MY BABYYYYY" sorry...had to.
  17. LOL! I was typing that and half expecting that. Nah, the whole thing happened like a month or so before he *ahem* cancelled.
  18. lol. My friend insists that the only reason I love those records is cause it's Dylan. But they're all sooooooooo good.
  19. Some film soundtrack. Kurt cancelled last minute.
