if any of you ever has a chance to see the australian pink floyd show, GO!!!! Link to their site jumpin jesus, analogman I owe you a giant thank-you. I just went to their site to add the link to this post, and lo and behold they're playing in Houston this Sat. night. Just got 4 tickets. When we saw these guys last year, they opened with dark side of the moon. the whole freakin' album, uninterrupted. they have the laser light show, spot on equipment, tone, etc., backing female vocals. if you close your eyes, you are listening to pink floyd. it's just mind-blowing, even for only casu

if you're of the opinion that abortion in all forms is murder, that marriage between anyone other than a man and a woman is sin, that all drugs are evil, that homosexuality and premarital sex are sins, etc., then it's probably not too far off to claim that the electing of democrats could potentially "destroy" (I would think "erode" or "alter" might be more fitting, but whatever) your values--to the extent that most democrats favor a woman's right to choose, support gay rights (incl. marriage) and don't condemn premarital sex, homosexuality, etc.. It's inflammatory and inciteful rhetoric to be

Rick Perry... Several ads on the radio lately stating: "Rick Perry, the only one with a proven record of securing our border." Really? They're still running the ads on the radio attacking democrat candidate Chris Bell. It's in the same vein (hell, it's a direct ripoff to be honest) of the "real men of genius" beer ads. So pathetic. Way to stay above the fray, jackass. I'm still with you Kinky, let's all go over the cliff together... -
agreed. I can't figure out whether I love sufjan's stuff or if it will end up annoying the piss out of me at times. Guess I'll give it a fair try, there were some beautiful melodies, arrangements and harmonies in those tunes. calexico was just brilliant. I've been so pigeon-holed musically for the past years that I've let some bands like this slip through. now I'm regretting it. Downloading some of their stuff right now and am looking forward to ordering their cds. I was constantly surprised and smiling during that set. Just enjoyable through and through. I'm glad I saw them before j

most bands are meant to die with a modicum of dignity. that opportunity is so far in the rearview mirror...

Great thread. No question that the premise holds true. I can't speak for the rubbish that passes for country music today, but it is certainly true for most of the mainstays of the genre. Hmpf. Must do some digging now. As a corollary, country artists seem much more prone to borrow, record and cover each other's tunes as well.

I can hardly read a word of this article. Is it reposted anywhere else?

I can maybe buy "sober," but "clean"?

are you just bored of the setlists, or have you actually been bored as a result of attending a live show? p.s. after typing "bored" twice the word lost all meaning to me. Hate when that happens.

"I sincerely regret that my words were misinterpreted to wrongly imply anything negative about those in uniform and I personally apologize to any service member, family member or American who was offended," Kerry said in a statement. I accept the apology. I'm not sure about the split infinitive though. That's a deeper wound that may take time to heal.
