Happy baseball, everyone.

Yes, you are screwed. The (sort of) cool thing about that issue is that you have to think about stuff and it impacts values in the auction. For example, if you know a guy is in a walk year, you have to be careful about buying him because you may lose him...

Haha, yeah. I had him for $10 before last season and had to decide whether to sign him to a long term contract. He had such a good year that I signed him to a 3 yr deal -- the way our league works is that the salary goes up $5 for each year in the long term contract. So, he shat the bed last year and now I have to keep him this year and next at 15 and 20, respectively. Dangit.

Here is my rotisserie AL only keeper team (not that anyone asked). The really good deals I've got are guys that I have as young cheap keepers that I signed to a long term contract (eg, Bedard, 7) and the really bad deals I've got are guys that I have as young cheap keepers that I signed to a long term contract that suck ass now (eg, Santana, 15). Nothing beats true auction, keeper, rotisserie baseball. Mixed leagues means everyone's got an allstar team. I also insist on playing AL only to minimize conflicts with the Mets. C: Posada, $22 C: Laird, $1 1B: Morneau, $27 2B: J Lopez, $3 3B: L

Criminally underrated.

Happy birthday!

Sweet! I got Alexei Ramirez for $1 at last weekend's rotisserie baseball auction.

Sure, but it's not inconceivable to think that with the time change, etc. that a team could come back and lose a game or two as a result of the jetlag, etc. That's all I meant. Those games could certainly impact the playoffs. And your point was that baseball wouldn't do this if they thought it could/would impact the playoffs.
-
The game you lose in April is worth the same as the game you lose in September if you end up out of the playoffs by one game.

I wasn't the one suggesting that they do it in the middle of season. I was lamenting the complaints about the trips to Japan at this point in the season. I agree that the time difference is a fair point that I had not considered. You know what? I still don't care. Man up. These dudes can sleep until 1pm on days with a night game.

Jeez, it's not like these guys are flying in the cargo section of a plane straight out of Raiders of the Lost Ark. Sure, the travel can't possibly be something that they look forward to, but we ARE talking about first class/charter air travel. And the finest hotels. And the finest foods and hospitality when they get there. The travel complaints are just about a whole lot of nothing in my book.

Thanks -- It's weird, I don't get it. I've stopped and started with Slanted & Enchanted on a few occasions and I can't get into it. I cant put my finger on what it is. I love his contributions to American Water. Why can't monsters get along with other monsters? So it's not even that I don't have the SM love. I will try Crooked Rain. I have a feeling something just needs to click and when it does, all bets are off. That's what happened with me and GBV. Never really got em, until I got em. And once I got em it was all over.

"In Tampa, that play you saw was a good, hard baseball play," Maddon said, referring to the play that injured Yankees catcher Francisco Cervelli. "What you saw today was the definition of a dirty play. There's no room for that in our game. It's contemptible. It's wrong. It's borderline criminal. I can't believe they did that." I agree with Maddon. Taking out a catcher blocking the plate is real baseball. Sliding spikes up is dirty,

There are rumors that she strongly pushed for him not to resign. So who knows why she's standing next to him. She may really want to support him now. Anyone see this? Jim Cramer's a clown and he's hard to take seriously, but still:

I am listening to this album now for the first time... I am one of those weird dudes that just can't get into Pavement or Malkmus in general. Although I absolutely love him and his contributions to the Silver Jews. Soi disantra. Are the any other freaks like me? Maybe this one will click for me...

The folks that are arguing that cheating on his wife is irrelevant are ignoring the fact that while his private life may be a nonissue for you, the state still has laws that need to be followed by its citizens. You may not agree with this law in particular, but it's a law that would be enforced against you if you were busted under it. And once you start distinguishing between the laws you agree with, and the laws you don't agree with, you are sliding down a very slippery slope.

But Spitzer isn't accused of just flings on the side. This is money laundering and prostitution. I dont think a governor (or AG) needs to be perfect, but he/she needs to find a way to obey the law, no? I don't get it -- your problem is his hypocrisy? Politicians are hypocrites all the time.

Yes, there is a difference. I said so before you did, right here: But since you are asking, you do see the difference between getting some sex for money and violating the constitution, right?

Also, Bush and his enablers at least have an argument to make. It's one that I think is forced and it is one that I disagree with passionately, but it's a bit unfair to say that their issues are black and white. What Spitzer did is black and white.
