No Ohio State fans congratulating Oregon on sending Oregon State out of the Rose Bowl and letting tOSU back into a BCS Bowl? Notre Dame beat us like 12 years in a row and there were a lot of terrible losses in that run, so USC fans (not me personally, since I became a fan my freshman year of attending the school) know full well what Notre Dame is going through right now, and I realize its not fun. Yeah, if we had an 8 or 4 team playoff, there would be some strange downsides. For example, if there was a playoff this year, Texas would probably end off being better off to not go to the Big 12 conference game because they can't lose a game they don't play, and would be in the top 4/top 8 at the end of the season, and would be in the playoff. If Oklahoma went to the Big 12 championship and lost, they would definitely drop out of the top 4 with two losses and maybe even the top 8. So you are like, punishing the team by sending them to a championship.

I actually half agree with this. I think a 4 team tournament would be the sweet spot for college football, since you'd keep most of the controversy, without REALLY screwing people over. You'd have a ton of people fighting over that number 4 spot, just like everyone is fighting over the number 2 spot now.

Well the one nice thing for Texas in this situation is that, assuming the SEC winner takes the #1 spot, and Missouri wins the Big 12 over Oklahoma, Texas really would be the next team in line to get into the #3 spot. You could say, "but they didn't win their division or conference", but then its possible that the next spot will be held by USC, who also probably won't win their conference. You'd have to reach down to Penn State or Utah if you really wanted a team that won its conference, and I don't really see that happening

Texas pretty much has to blow out Texas A&M and Oklahoma has to barely scrape out a win at OK State for Texas to have a chance at making the Big 12 Conference game. Worst case for Texas is that Oklahoma loses and then Texas Tech goes to the Big 12 game. Then they beat Missouri and Texas doesn't have much of a case for being ranked above them. (besides the whole ridiculously terrible blowout thing)

So i guess if Oklahoma wins next week at Oklahoma State, they'll be given credit for losing earlier and having better late season wins...and will be headed for the Big 12 championship, and presumably the BCS Title game vs. Florida. But maybe the voters will give the longhorn's credit...who knows. And Oregon State is still hanging on and boxing USC out of the Rose Bowl and Ohio State out of getting an at-large bid.
