I think their entire catalog is grade "A". By their own admittance, they are never going to tour again; but they may do some one-offs here and there. Isn't Kenny somehow affiliated with Broken Social Scene now? I vaguely remember reading words to that effect, which seems possible since SetFree was released on BSS's label, Arts&Crafts.

Phil Gnarly & the Toughguys were contemporaries of Spooner/Firetown.....and those boys were considerably more entertaining. -
Chavez Ravine ~ Ry Cooder Setting Sons ~ The Jam have been overlooked here

Dean Wareham & Britta Phillips 4.7.07 Los Angeles CA
SideshowByTheSeashore replied to ms. yvon's topic in After The Show
You got one Galaxie500 song ("Strange").....Interesting that was on the set and not, say, Tugboat....which is the one G500 track they played when I saw them in middle March. I was hoping they'd pull out Strange when I saw them...as I missed Luna covering it in the past and I am curious how Dean&Britta arrange it. Britta does, indeed, show some vocal heavy on "You Turn My Head..." Good show then, happy you enjoyed them in LA. -
I'm liking this record.... alot as a matter of fact. I find it strange that so many, not all (not you, of course!), expect a resuscitation of Trace, Straightaways, WST and are disappointed that it's not that at all. I agree with those that say that the name should have been retired.....branding what it is and all, because this is not your post-Tupelo SV. I think this record is a departure from Okemah.....not a complete one. I don't think this record is boring at all. It's solid. I've no buyer's remorse.

Wow.... playing Kiss covers beautiful and stoned! Love the zoom action, by the way. Did I catch Jay jump ala Pete Townshend? I must be high. -

Maybe they'll play a song from the Search on Conan as I understand that they'll be appearing on Thursday. -
You are correct, sir.

Familiar with the Watermelon Men or Chesterfield Kings? They're nothing like that. Here's one song http://www.deanandbritta.com/mp3/yourBaby.mp3 Other samples? Check their a/v page: http://www.deanandbritta.com/av.php But, you gotta believe he's gonna pull out a Galaxie500 and/or Luna song(s) for these dates. -
I love them... they are, indeed, awesome.

Which of these shows will feature Serge Gainsbourg's 'Bonnie&Clyde'? I understand that there will be second leg serving points West. Dates thus far: 03-08 Philadelphia, PA - World Caf

Luna's Tell Me Do You Miss Me is pretty good. It documents their last tour in 2004/2005.

Painful is arguably their greatest album. I'd advise you acquire a copy of that. YoLaTengophiles seem to think that Summer Sun is weak but I like it. Yet I prefer Painful. Author's note: I'm not a YoLaTengophile....that's just what I've heard them bandy about

I think Inspiral Carpets would be one such band. Wasn't there a band Happy Mondays or some such name that also achieved a similar sound? -
I heard that Brad's stage presence is more energetic or some such thing, more animated, I guess. I've not seen SonVolt with Brad either... (so what the hell am I chiming in for?) ... Chris was brought on only on a temporary basis to begin with--never to be full time.
