  1. Ken - What an awesome night. Thanks again for everything. Joe DiMaggio's Done It Again - not performed since the recording session... Gram Parsons covers...
  2. I admit it - i scanned the cds a little too; noticed a copy of Brian Wilson's Smile album...
  3. I'm pretty sure Jeff drove Sue and their escorts.... but I haven't heard anything from the escorts since last Saturday. I expect it was a quiet drive back into the city, due to Jeff's migraine. Hope he was feeling better after he got home. Not sure if it was mentioned here, but minutes after leaving the living room show, WXRT played "I Can't Stand It"....
  4. nice photos Steph... thanks for posting these...
  5. "One Hundred Years From Now" was simply amazing to watch and hear, Ken. Yes, there was a couple of false starts, but how cool was it that Jeff wanted to make sure you all got a complete performance captured. And of course, once rolling, that song was one of the highlights for me. "Love and Mercy" will be one of the memorable moments for me. Getting to play bass and sing harmony, and then "I Shall Be Released" and "Heavy Metal Drummer" too! Thanks to you and your family for making this possible. And to Jeff and Sue for their generosity and kindness to all... I also was not aware of Jeff
  6. As a student, I felt that it was extremely generous of Jeff to allow us to share the stage with him. It was the only performance of the show that featured guitar students, and for me, I viewed it as an opportunity to represent all of the student communities that exist at Old Town. Not just the Wilco class, but Beatles, Grateful Dead, Stones, Dylan, Soul, Floating Rock, Lunar, etc... Please note: the group of individuals that played with Jeff were never identified in the show's program as "The Wilco Ensemble". In fact, it just lists our names. I think the media got hold of the phrase, whi
  7. The cool thing for me was watching the smiles on your's, Aimee's, Elise's, and Andrew's faces... simply an amazing experience.
  8. The 2 DVDs are really good. It took several nights to get through it all, but I really liked the whole thing.... other than all of the hair dye... why do musicians feel they need to have jet black hair when they are as old as they are? Petty dyed his hair too... I find it disturbing. But the music and interviews are fantastic.
  9. WXRT here in Chicago play "Can't Stand It" every once in a while. Walken and What Light still get played a bit...
  10. Yeah, 1974 was the only time George toured America. I remembered reading all about it, but at 14, I was too young to go. He did tour in Japan with Clapton in 1991... http://bekkoame.ne.jp/~garp/hari/live74.htm So you were very lucky to have seen him perform live.
  11. Seeing George in 1974... now that's cool!
  12. Glad someone asked... yes, my 17th birthday, April 1977, Chicago Stadium. It was an amazing experience - changed my life... best birthday ever... until this year seeing Jeff Tweedy at The Vic I also saw Lynyrd Skynyrd at the Ampitheater in 1977. I think Ronnie Montrose was the opening act. Saw one of the last Skynyrd concerts before the fatal crash... Soldiers Field, with Ted Nugent and a bunch of others... Saw Jethro Tull twice in the late 70s... loved them, I wore out my bright orange "Too Old To Rock and Roll, Too Young To Die" t-shirt... what year was that, 78? Oh - Cheap Trick
  13. The beginning of "The Late Greats" always reminded me of George's "Give Me Love"... same key, feel etc...
  14. You can see Jeff solo on December 1 at the Auditorium, when he headlines the 50th anniversary of the Old Town School of Folk Music concert. Not the same as a solo show, but it's going to be a great night...
  15. The Beatles as The Beatles, and The Band is The Band (and Wilco is Wilco), and they are all great. Trying to compare who is better is kind of pointless... cause The Beatles are better... and Ringo had that Octopus song too... "I'd like to be, under the sea..."
