  1. oh I totally agree that he was fighting an uphill battle in this administration....and they they did leave him out to dry and gave him knowingly cherry picked and false information to take to the UN......but, Frontline really focuses in on him being a victim. Graham and I were both a little uneasy about it. He was really the only Bush admin official that I ever had an ounce of respect for. You may be able to see it online this week - Frontline is great about putting shows online, though sometimes it takes a week or two to show up online after they air on PBS proper. edit - it looks like
  2. I just finished watching the first two hours of this......it is well done, and intensely depressing. My only beef is how they portray Powell as a victim. Granted, he was battling power hungry bullies, like Cheney and Rumsfeld - but they seem to go to lengths to paint him as the duped victim. To some degree, I would agree, but I also hold Powell accountable for his words and actions - because he is, after all, an intelligent adult. Part Two is tomorrow night.....tune in....I am sure their exploration on the CPA/Bremer era will be even more depressing.
  3. I love Angela's Ashes......have you read 'Tis? I was so so on Teacher Man, though enjoyed it. He just has such a wonderful voice in his writing.
  4. I miss my road bike so much......coveting a new one.......
  5. I didn't care for this film at all. I guess I have no soul.
  6. I love Frontline and highly recommend that show on Cheney. It is chilling. The stuff on David Addington? I was especially blown away by the interview with the guy from the Office of Legal Council and his telling of the Ashcroft hospital bed story. Also, I got this in my email today: FRONTLINE http://www.pbs.org/frontline/ - This Week: "Bush's War" (270 minutes), March 24th and 25th at 9pm on PBS (Check local listings) In the Fall of 2001, with the campaign against Al Qaeda and the Taliban in full swing in Afghanistan, veteran producer Michael Kirk walked into FRONTLINE's Boston o
  7. they do? crazy. I haven't been in Euclid Records in a long time, seeing as I don't live there anymore. I have only been to the Webster location once. I lived in the CWE, and worked a few doors down from them for a long time - so I would pop in there to get discs from time to time. Never bought any Wilco stuff there - so I can't speak to what you said. Though, I am surprised.
  8. Woah! kimcoach!! I did my swim tonight with goggles and cap! Yes, makes a HUGE difference! I did the 1/2 mile in 25 minutes, which is 4 minutes faster than my previous best. I also did 50/50 freestyle/breaststroke - 25 yards of one and then the other.....haven't done that before. That cap makes breathing so much easier, keeping the hair out of my face. I then did an additional 20 minutes of "free swim" though mostly backstroke and frog stroke/kicks......and it just felt great. damn, I love swimming.
  9. got goggles. got lycra swimcap. I almost bought the flowery one, but it felt weird on my ears. test for fissues? hit me!
  10. right on! My goal is to finish last, or better.
  11. well, I had already made the commitment to go to the gym at least every other day - I am on a fitness/weight loss push.....so the triathlon is just a bonus incentive and gives me some concrete goals apart from my weight....which is good, because when I focus on weight I can become a bit crazy and frustrated. I am amazed at how much better I am swimming now than I was just a few weeks ago. The run is going to be the VERY hard part for me. I think I will do it on the treadmill today when we go to the gym, before I swim.....even if I walk the whole thing. The knowledge that you can do the d
  12. I have been doing the length of the swim every time I go to to the pool, and then some....I usually swim for 40 min and I typically have 10 min of swimming time after I have done the 1/2 mile......it is very doable. I also am working on strengthening my backstroke. I was hauling ass last night with that one.
  13. yeeeeesh - just thinking about that......I would flip out.
  14. I figure is there are fish, they wouldn't been too keen on all the splashing - but just the idea of their presence? terrifying......yes, it's an irrational phobia, but a phobia nonetheless....... I have fissues!! -- I am indeed registered
  15. I *heart Euclid Records* The uncle of one of my best friends owns that store......and the guy I had THE biggest crush on for like 10 years works there (at least he did awhile back)......worth a stop in!
  16. oh yeah, last night in the pool I had a whiff of a fish smell at this one end of the pool. Must have been some chemical strangeness or something - but for a moment I totally panicked and looked around me half expecting to see some giant bass underneath me. I then realized, holy crap, when we do the triathlon swim? It's in a lake? There are fish in lakes. Shit. I hope I don't have a panic attack like half way through!!
  17. Jen looks adorable - though the ass? not so much.
  18. second time at the pool tonight since coming back from out of town......I have really picked up my freestyle! I am now almost going freestyle 50% of my swim. almost. I really need to get a swim cap and goggles.
  19. I am on that last boat with ya Donna - I have zero interest in getting a Wii - I have never been much into video games, though Guitar Hero can be fun.
  20. Happy Birthday Drew!!! Your birthday always gives me the opportunity to post my favorite Red.....
