finally, after waaaay too long I made it to the new Busch Stadium - and all I have to say is..... wow. I am not keen on a lot of the extra crap on the concourses - it's somewhat crass - too commercial, etc.......but once you are in your seat? the view is freakin spectacular and it's just a beautiful place to be. Still, I miss my old baseball home - the big ol beast that it was.

is anyone here familiar with the Seminary Co-Op Bookstore which is underground, beneath the Chicago Theo. Seminary? Apparently, it is one of (if not THE) largest academic bookstores in the nation - though they carry all kinds of stuff. Seminary Co-Op Bookstore A prof was telling me about this place the other day - and I can't believe I hadn't heard of it before......Chicago's best kept secret? I may have to take a field trip.

What's the price of gas where you are?

...and we've been hovering around $3.50 for weeks now. Our car used to fill up with less that $25.....now it takes close to $50. I take the Metra into downtown - though that isn't anything new - no way would I make that drive on a regular basis. I prefer to keep what little sanity I have left. And as for Graham's bike riding - he is a brave soul - 8-9 miles on suburban roads, with heavy traffic, most certainly not designed for bikes. I get really worried. -
waiting for this one in the mail

I heard Ction will be there.

What's the rarest record or memorabilia you have from any band?
Reni replied to remphish1's topic in Someone Else's Song
I have a few handwritten notes from Kim Colletta somewhere. I LOVED Simple Machines back in the early 90's.....that Working Holiday Series was teh awesome. I have the Operation Ivy 1st pressing of the Hectic 7" and the original limited pressing of Plea for Peace. I have the first Rancid 7" which Lint gave to me back when we were pals. I have the first pressing of X - Los Angeles and the 1st pressing of the Blatz/Filth split LP I have no clue if any of those are actually worth anything - but in my mind, those are some of my valuables. -
I will not be able to make this - though I can't speak for my beloved spouse. Sounds like fun!

I, too, was thinking purple line - but wasn't sure of how late it ran - I know it's not a 24 hour line.

no, you'd have to take the Metra - which leaves from downtown, and has a few stops along the way. However, I have no idea how close it goes to where any of the events are. You'd likely need to be picked up or get a cab. The downside of the Metra is that when you are going back into the city, the train stops running around midnight - which can leave you stranded if you miss it. Here's the website: http://www.metrarail.com/ You would take the North line - which makes a few stops on the north side of Chicago and in Evanston. http://metrarail.com/Sched/cnw_n/cnwn.shtml I am sure th
