  1. I would consider myself a young(ish) professional, though more of the (somewhat) reformed hippie with kids to feed type than of the suit-wearing ilk, and having been to the recent Knoxville show, I would have to say that the chatters were more hipsters that otherwise. Maybe I don't know what a young preffesional is. Does that just mean that you are employed? If anything, I think my impressions of a yuppie and a hipster now-a-days are very similar. Conspicuous Blackberry, striped shirt, hair prodicts, etc...

May I also take this opportunity to start a sit vs. stand debate? I couldn't agree more with the idea of paying attention to the band during a concert and being respectful to thase who have spent their hard earned money to HEAR the music. That being said, couldn't we all concentrate better on the performance by actually SEEING the band without constantly jockeying to and fro to catch the occasional glimpse around the fist-pumping loudmouth in front of us? Inded, might a seated, eyes forward audience be more conducive to artistry and it's appreciation than douchery and it's ruination.

    I'm just sayin'.

I wish Wilco would only play at places without seats, then it wouldn't really matter. I prefer to sit at more laid back acoustic shows, but rock shows I would rather stand. Do you really want to sit during a song like I'm A Wheel or Kicking Television? It seems funny and out of place. Also, think about the band. This isn't merely a financial transaction. Most bands prefer you to stand (I've been at many shows, including Wilco, where the band has to ask the people to stand). And do you really think standing is douchery? Really?

  2. This album clicked right away for me. I hope that ends up being a good thing. I think it will because I notice emotion translated really well on this album. SBS reminded of a Grateful Dead record - a collection of songs faithfully put to tape that were meant to be played live. This one here is a real record. One Wing, You And I, and Everlasting are standouts for me right now. I loved One Wing live (real gritty and spacy), I love this version (sorry for the pun, but it soars; it sounds great and very emotionally resonant), and I can't wait to see this live in the future. I hope they don't hold back on this one because it is kind of restrained on the record (Don't get me wrong I think it's perfect for a recorded version, but live they need to get crazy)

Anyone else with me on the emotionally resonant thing? I'm really "feeling" a lot of these songs. It's hard to put that into words, but you know kind of choked up at certain moments?

  3. Wow. I'm, just, wow. REALLY? I think you're thinking more of the C&E variety - you HAVE to. You simply cannot think, in this world, that 'virtually none' of the people in this world who attend religious services would skip one to go to a secular concert. Is that what you're telling me? Wow.

I think he's saying the opposite of what you think he is saying.

  4. I have heard a lot of versions and I like the newer one the best... besides, "livin' in... New Orleans." nuff said.

Sounds better than "livin' in Rochester" (on many levels). You do know they were playing in N'Orleans, right?

  5. But, it's only 4 years old. And yes, of course I'm taking a stimulant! I guess an upturned glass over the middle is my solution...

One of the reviews from the link you posted said there are adjustment screws underneath. Don't know if that helps really?

  6. When the world's largest concert promoter' date=' Live Nation, and the world's largest ticket seller, Ticketmaster, announced plans to merge into a $2.5 billion company in February, Wilco made a symbolic decision. The band had been selling T-shirts online through Live Nation-owned Musictoday but abruptly switched to a competitor. "[The merger'] is just a business model we're not comfortable with," says Tony Margherita, the band's manager. "We're all learning bigger isn't always better."
  7. Saw this last night. Kind of a mix between a concert and a nostalgia trip. They had a movie screen and played clips and talked about them. They read a list of censor's objections to the Spinal Tap movie. They did a question and answer segment. I don't want to give too much away in case someone is catching this because they are probably doing the same show every stop, but all that really needs to be said is that I saw Stonehenge and Big Bottom live and now I will die a happy man.

  8. This is my favorite part:

"In the summer of 1997, as he was finishing his first term in the Illinois State Senate, Barack Obama and a young legislative aide made an exploratory tour of downstate districts. When they stopped at a T.G.I. Friday

  9. what are the hammer-ons?

Just spent a while trying to tab, but it didn't go so well.

You know in Radio King, how you hammer on on the fifth string while playing the G. You do the same thing, and then do it on the fourth string as well.
