  1. The piano colors on One Sunday Morning remind me of Leroy.
  2. I propose a video for Capital City with Jeff riding one of those bikes with the giant front wheel. Yes, this must happen.
  3. Totally. These are the best strings I've heard on a Wilco record. They sound so gritty and organic, you can hear the bows. On other albums they often sounded like an extra touch, but not so central to what you're hearing.
  4. This album is making me feel really good.
  5. "I might" sounds like a different song after "Art of Almost", it's almost like a relief. After constant tension for eight minutes you can just groove.
  6. Yes, what other people said. "Art of Almost" actually sounds like Radiohead..... weird. But in a way that is really cool and probably incidental. John has some great stuff going on.... holding together a bubbling cauldron of sounds.
  7. I have seen videos of her rocking live incredibly hard. She is obviously a musical genius. If her records were just a pinch less progressive and didn't feel so..... overcooked. I might be a superfan. But I figure it's time to really dig into one and listen more than twice. This album might be the one.
  8. It's cool when people don't get mad about strange things. I'm trying to decide why discussing an album that most people haven't heard is so aggravating. It's ok to take a break from this message board if it doesn't make you happy. Hey OP, I'm glad you heard the song. I'm glad you shared some lyrics. I look forward to hearing it too. Sounds cool. This is like being "Rick-rolled" hee hee.....
  9. Dude, wait another day to hear the record and GO SEE ELBOW. That's awesome!
  10. Wilco the album: Deeper Down, Bullblack Nova, You and I, Solitaire, I'll Fight, One Wing..... all solid to me. The rest..... all enjoyable but not nearly as engaging. There are some great lyrics on the record, I'm not sure if any of them are on Sonny Feeling, but if I have to hear a fun rocker I'll take it over You Never Know.
  11. I see people responding to being shamed for disliking things on here. It is so often a conversation around this band: person A says "This is neat." Person B says "No it sucks." Someone else tells person b not to down on everything. Person b responds with the rationale that opinions, art, music- all that stuff is interesting for discussion. You don't have to like everything to be a fan of the band. (This gets relevant cause I think SBS is a big breeding ground for this cycle). I could always philosophically appreciate this 'person b' line of reasoning, but in practice it sometimes irrit
  12. SBS is a winter sweater. It sounds like when the sun is out but it's still cold. I mean that in the best possible way.... if that makes any sense.
  13. If someone gets some real news in the next couple weeks they should start a new thread.
  14. I go to work for 12 hours, come back to a thread with no leak, but some baiting and flaming. Boo!
  15. What makes the song genius is that it initially comes off as an "easy rocker". If you listen a few times on a good system you can hear some really beautiful subtle layering in the course of the tune. Definitely more than it seems.....
  16. A Ghost Is Born Yankee Hotel Foxtrot Being There Sky Blue Sky Summerteeth Wilco (the album) AM I might be alone in this. Also, if there is a mathematician in the crowd they should tell us how many different combination of 7 can exist.
  17. Is it splitting hairs to notice the band had a different name and that half the songs were written by a different singer and songwriter?
  18. I didn't think they were very small at all. I can't name any contemporary rock bands that I'm a fan of who are 'bigger' (save a few veterans: Stones, the Boss etc.) If you think you have Wilco to yourself then you will be excited to find a world of extraordinary musicians that people care about even less.
  19. Yeah, I'm totally pumped too. I think there was a lot of talk about how their management/record label was going to be run out of MA, so it is kind of their second home now.
  20. It all happened at the Loft. If anything, I think recording at the Loft has always been the best thing for them. From what we can tell so far it worked well this time.
  21. No matter how much/little you enjoy it, I can not think of any other sonic detail that has been discussed in as great a length on that record. That right there shows something is artistically relevant. It attempted to communicate something; a lot of people responded to it. I haven't heard half as much on here about most of their other songs. I'm not saying that makes it 'good' (I happen to enjoy it from time to time), but it does make it 'of note'.
