  4. As per the liner notes to the nugs release, this song was first attempted during the "A Ghost Is Born" sessions, and then re-tried during the "Sky Blue Sky" sessions. They never produced a satisfactory take.
  5. Jeff plays some absolutely fabulous lead guitar during the 2003 Philadelphia show. That is one of the reasons it was chosen for release.

  10. I was fortunate enough to be among the ~ 20 people (mostly KCRW-FM staff) in the audience for the 9/14 afternoon audio and video taping for KCRW-FM. Essentially, the band was set up exactly like it was for the three evening shows. Everyone performed in their "street clothes" (including the normally dapper Nels, who was in jeans), which I thought odd since the performance was being filmed. Both the band and audience members were asked to remain silent between songs, most probably in order to facilitate easy editing between the performances and interview segments. While everyone in the aud
  11. Update...the afternoon show sold out pretty quickly, so they added a 2nd (7:00pm) show, which is already halfway sold out. This really is an amazing space to see a show in, so if you are at all interested in going, I suggest that you get your tickets quickly. website http://www.concertsinthestudio.com/upcomingperformances.html

Details here: http://www.concertsinthestudio.com/upcomingperformances.html Both Pronto and Nels Cline have played this venue in the past year. This will be A.D.'s only east coast public appearance in 2012.
  14. I just wanted to let fans in the Philadelphia and surrounding areas know that The Autumn Defense will be playing a special intimate "acoustic duo" show at Milkboy in Ardmore, PA (20 minute SEPTA ride from Center City) on Friday, May 13th. Tickets will be going on sale shortly.
  15. You can thank me (and my then nine year old daughter) for "Just A Kid". We were at the afternoon soundcheck and "Kid" was the only Wilco song she new (thanks SpongeBob) so we both yelled for it. They smiled back at us, took a few moments to discuss, and then played it. John was not there yet, so Pat played bass. I ironically couldn't make it to the show that night (I go all over N. America to see these guys, and then they play Philly on the one night when I can't make it), but got the report that they played "Kid", which was surprising considering that it wasn't rehearsed with the proper lin
  16. I taped the first two shows (Toronto and Ontario) of the tour at the request of their soundman. When I send them to the band, I will ask if it is ok to share with the public. Both recordings are straight off the board. The 1st night is missing the first two songs and the 2nd night has some flaws that I should be able to correct. I will keep you "posted".
