  1. Man, Manny loafing it down the 1st-base line....
  2. I believe that was the Sugar Mag tease->Good Lovin', right? I was at the Stephen Hartford show as well and it's one of my most vivid Dead show memories. I was waiting on each note out of Space for the intro after knowing it was done at MSG earlier in the week. The MSG and Hartford Stephen shows are kind of similar in the second set. Sam Bush's band and a lot of the other cats from Rocky Grass fest (Bela, Chris Thile, etc.) closed with a Brokedown Palace on Sunday night.
  3. Cheers. Is that pronounced like "Yahtzee!?"
  4. Tell that to the future T. Boone Pickens Leavell's father and grandfather.
  5. Which is exactly why I like it. It's fun to say.
  6. I like the name Earl. I wanted it for either a middle or first name for either of my last two boys but it was vetoed vehemently both times. It was always female friends that would agree with the ex-, too. The guy friends (in general) didn't mind the name.
  7. I never "got" people naming their kid(s) prior to the birth. No offense to sissooie or anyone else who has done this, but I always like to see what the thing looks like first and then tag it with one of a few names we've narrowed it down to. Friends of ours had their fourth kid last month and waited 2 weeks to name her.
  8. Or "Bunny." Aren't there a bunch of folks named Bunny around here?
  9. In a sense, aren't we all "Kevins?"
  10. Ditto. Born two days after Christmas and all. "Bearer of Christ" or something. Stand back.
  11. I've never met anyone named "other" but it's got a nice ring to it. Like "cantaloupe."
  12. Congratulations to all sooies, particularly sistersooie. Remember: it's never too early to start spanking them.
  13. I like cuttin' the cord. It's all spongey-like and chewy.
  14. DP's #6 10/14/83 Hartford is very good. Why they never released the next night with the St. Stephen I'll never know. I attended these and the recording does justice to the quality of the show. Set lists: 1.Alabama Getaway 2. Greatest Story Ever Told 3. They Love Each Other 4. Mama Tried 5. Big River 6. Althea Disc: 2 1. Scarlet Begonias 2. Fire On The Mountain 3. Estimated Prophet 4. Eyes Of The World Disc: 3 1. Drums 2. Spinach Jam 3. The Other One 4. Stella Blue 5. Sugar Magnolia 6. U.S. Blues
  15. shhh. He's a "closer," not a really good pitcher. Over-rated!
  16. No, no, no. I'm not ragging on you. Honestly. It was just my backwards way of bringing up the subject of (un-)/importance of closers we've had around here of late. Sorry for the misunderstanding. ed. I think it's great that Wagner did what he's paid to do.
  17. If the lead was 3 runs or less that requires a closer doing his job, correct? They mark that in the records by calling it a "save." Wagner saved the lead and consequently, the win. Good for him.
  18. Or fellas that enjoy the savage taste of ear:
  19. What about fellas who give the gift of ear to the one they're smitten with?
  20. Well, there is a history to the stat that is saves. Too much emphasis on the stat or not, it's given regard. Behind the regard the stat is given is a person. To fault K-Rod because his team is good and he's merely had more opportunity than Jon Rauch or somebody to prove he can close games isn't valid, imo. The use of relievers is obviously a lot different than when Fingers, Sutter, Gossage, et al. played. Those guys were pretty much abused. This doesn't diminish the role and/or importance of a Trevor Hoffman, Mo Rivera, etc.
  21. Somebody should let the HOF committee in on this.
  22. Lest the Boston bias be brought up, let's not forget that Francisco Rodriguez got to 40 saves faster than any one else in MLB history. He's had a hand in 2/3 of the Angel's fantastic record. Though the Save is meaningless, right?
  23. Appetite made my list. Master wouldn't make my "TOP 1000."
