  1. That's one of the best set lists I've ever seen. Love how much they are changing things up for these shows. You Chicago folks are quite lucky!
  2. And just like that, this was posted on Pollard's Facebook: Guided by Voices have not split up and continue to work on new material together. In addition to the album release of Let's Go Eat the Factory for January, the band are at work on another album, Class Clown Spots A UFO, which will be released in May. Robert Pollard will also be releasing a solo album, Mouseman Cloud in March.
  3. Pretty excited for his return to more pop-oriented songwriting...this part of the interview stood out for me STEREOGUM: Who were the people that played on the record with you? RUFUS: Uh, well the Dap-Kings, a lot of those members were the backup band, and then Sean Lennon plays on a track and also Nels from Wilco…. and … who else, Martha sings on it… um, oh, Thomas Bartlett who’s a fantastic pianist and keyboard player. We didn’t want to sort of pile on the personalities, y’know? We wanted it to have some sort of streamlined quality. So we also tried to keep it simple as well. http://ster
  4. Seems to be news that this lineup has broken up???!? Cancelled all of their 2012 appearances. 12/7/11 Unfortunately, Guided By Voices are canceling their appearances at Primavera and ATP/I'll Be Your Mirror, due to personal reasons. The band apologizes for any inconvenience and disappointment, and thanks Primavera, ATP and the fans for their longterm support. This is a major bummer! www.robertpollard.net
  5. Anyone heard any more news about this Hipstamatic contest? Curious what photos the band picked for the cassette and when the cassette will be released etc...
  6. It's Rhett Miller live at Largo doing all covers. Looks pretty cool, and a great song selection. http://www.amazon.com/The-Interpreter-Live-At-Largo/dp/B0063TB6W8/ref=tmm_msc_title_0?ie=UTF8&qid=1320787411&sr=1-1 Lots of guest spots by Jon Brion as well, along with Joey Santiago from the Pixies.
  7. This is pretty incredible. A little something for everyone (tech geeks, photographers, filmmakers, and Wilco fans)! Also, makes me really want to see a show at the Ryman at least once in my life. What a cool-looking venue.
  8. Hi folks - here's my entry "Capitol City". http://community.hipstamatic.com/submissions/168232 If you like it, please vote for me! Cheers...
  9. Lady Antebellum this Saturday. Then Oct 8: Foster the People. And Oct 15: Drake. Hopefully after?? I think their last appearance was with Ellen Page in 2008.
  10. Well, I guess, technically, it was today. But still, brain explosion either way...
  11. I'm quite certain that had I casually come across this shoot while walking my dog yesterday, my brain would have exploded. http://carrollgardens.patch.com/articles/wilco-hit-talk-stoop#photo-7868722 Show info here: http://www.nbcnewyork.com/shows/talk-stoop/
  12. Agree re: Capitol City. Before I heard the song, all of the reviews made me think it was going to be this 1920s sounding ragtime jazz tune with a horn section etc (which I would still be intrigued to hear). Your comparisons are more apt as are the Randy Newman touchstones I've heard other people mention. I'm not sure why that song has become so polarizing, but I fall into the camp of enjoying it.
  13. Interesting read... http://pitchfork.com/features/articles/8017-time-capsule/3/
  14. I usually check out this website... http://www.interbridge.com/lineups.html
  15. Yup, it was Unlikely Japan. Thanks! That was buggin' me.
  16. I seem to remember another bonus track that I heard streaming on Stereogum a couple years ago, but now when I do a google search, the only bonus track that comes up for that album is Dark Neon (which I have). Am I crazy? I remember something else, and it was really awesome. I feel like it had the same or similar lyrics as another song but completely different music that was kind of moody and dark. Anyway, I don't think I'm hallucinating this, but maybe I am. Anyone have any insight? Cheers...

    I Might

http://wilcoworld.net/#/music/i-might-7-2 I guess I hear some similarities in the main guitar riff??

    I Might

Just saw this on the new website....re-listened to T.V. Eye, but not hearing the sample. What am I missing? I'm sure it's obvious... "I Might" features samples from the Stooges recording "T.V. Eye" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_SD-uF8uisA
  19. These videos are a treasure trove of awesomeness....

  21. Kind of has a Neil Young and Crazy horse vibe, and even seems like there are Neil Young references peppered in the lyrics....talk of a "maid" and "silver and gold." LOVING the song, and have very high hopes for this album.
  22. Got an email from Yep Roc about this today, and this line stuck out in particular. "Combining the art of collaborative recording with the craft of precision lacquer sculpture (and with 5 previously unreleased tracks not available on CD), this lovingly crafted, 180-gram vinyl tour de force is sure to remain a family keepsake for years to come." Anyone know what the 5 previously unreleased tracks are?? I'd love to hear those. I've always only listened to the CD.
  23. Peter Buck's guitar riff really reminds me of REM's ''The One I Love." And that's a good thing. This song gives me hope for the new album.
