  1. > Mickey's Barn, Novato, Ca This reminds me, I recall having a tape of a Barn Session with I think Hart and Garcia, maybe Lesh as well but had Crosby and possibly another early Bay Area guitar player on the recording. I remember it being really bluesy, extended jams. Anyone?
  2. "Pride of Cucamonga" still getiing ZERO love? C'mon JG saved the studio version, LOL. Heck, it's the only good thing about the song. I dig Jon Graboff's work. Also, Bruce Kaphan has added some steel to TBC's albums in the past, may be him on "Wiser Time". Also, Mark Van Allen of Blueground UnderGRASS (as well a ton of studio work for people) is a great one and I get to see Mark, The Rev and the boyz again this weekend. YeeHaw ! Any you NW Ga, SE Tn, NE Al, etc folks may want to look into the link below for a festival this weekend. I'll be there, never miss a Cherokee Fram/T-Dawg
  3. Thanx, the ATL '90 run was very nice and beautiful weather as well. Stone Mountain campground will never be the same. I recall many HEADS were thinking the boyz were gonna come on stage the night of April Fools and be on another member's instuments, exactly what they had done 4/1/80. If you haven't heard the gawd awful opener of Promsed Land, LOL stream it here: http://www.archive.org/details/gd80-04-01....6178.sbeok.shnf
  4. I love the FB's. A few weeks back I caught them when they opened for Old Crow. They played a great set then joiined OCMS for probably 4-6 songs to end the night. One of the best nights of music I had seen in a long time. I read somewhere recently (Oh yea, off bt etree) that Simone Felice had left the band to do another project. Does anyone know the truth? He is a great showman as well drummer. BT ETREE Show with a few SEEDers Still Open
  5. I'm also hoping for a Bro Betts appearance. Matter of fact, since the "2" decided to toss out Betts I have only referred to the band as AB, or Allman Band. It isn't a brotherhood less Betts, IMO.
  6. Much thanx. Now that is Good Dang Times indeed. Nice job by those phans
  7. Anything by Phil Collins. I can laugh at all other questionable artists, but Phil is the Devil.
  8. In all fairness, my two fav country artists are The Grateful Dead and The Rolling Stones. So, I guess Robert Hunter and Mick Jagger are my fav country lyric writers.
  9. Same here, I don't think I have ever turned the dial to a country station in my life. Now, I gew up with the old man sitting on country am stations in the late '60's, 70's but I just think that "Nashville sound" is no longer there. I too would say the "country" I like is more bluegrass driven, followed by a more rock driven sound. If I can hear a fiddle, a pedal and/or as always the sound and lyrics of Brother Gram then I'm good. if it's good, then it's good to me. A band with a touch of that old school (alt) country rock is YARN. See what you guys think at the link: Great Live Band to
  10. I'm really digging Justin Townes Earle's new one, "Midnight at the Movies". Several excellent tunes. His myspace page...Mama's Eyes has a Beautiful pedal groove
  11. I was able to catch the magical night which was The Fox. On this tour I was able to catch the B'ham, 1st ATL, the 2 in Nashville, and then Friday nights. The only show which I really just didn't dig was the B-ham show. The two in Nashville and The Fox were dang Good Times. I must say the Friday show may have been the best CARDS show since '06 which I have attended. I guess I have caught 8-12 shows each year the past 3 years. There were some great ones but everything from song selection, jams, beautifil playing, a KIND and respectable sold-out crowd, not to mention this crowd on their feet
  12. I agree, would love to see the film. During this time of the Piedmont gigs the Brothers and all hanger-ons had access to the artist Peter Max's place near the park. I'm not sure why PM had a studio/house in Georgia at the time. My aunt (who BTW turned me onto good music back then and got this kid's ball rollin') was a frequent attendee of the park shows as well PM's place. Oh, the stories she has shared.
  13. I guess it was around the time TNBC came out cica '93, she opened a leg of a tour, can't recall the date. It may have even been the year before that album, somewhere around that period though. Back then I was stopping in at The Big House in Macon, Ga to visit Kirk & Kirsten West a good bit. Really just seeinh how the house refurbish was going and as always just to listen to Kirk ramble on for hours about the early days of the Brothers, etc. Kirk was absolutely in awe, I would say "love" with SC. According to Kirk, the band also very much liked SC and she was more than an opening act
  14. Chris Isaak in ATL at the Tabernacle....Man, I guess almost 10 years ago. Gal invited me on our first date to go see him for our 2nd date........... lets say the first date ended so grand I still wanted more and Isaak show it was. I was surprised, not a bad gig and man that suit he wore which was made of small glass mirrors was super cool.
  15. No doubt the best part of the special. Still plenty of "cheese" on the special to get ya giggling late at night.
  16. I am who I am because of Elvis. Well, he did instill my love of live music which is still #1 in my life 34 years after my folks took me to see Elvis at The Omni in ATL in April 1975. This 10 year old kid thought Elvis coming on to 2001 Space Odd with a pack house screaming their heads off was the coolest thing ever. The Elvis '68 Comeback Special dvd gets HIGHly played at my house. LOL, enough to where some frequent repeat guests at the house will state "No, please not Elvis again" as I go to search a dvd to pop in.
  17. YeP, Doug has been an original member of Buick 6 and thus Lu's bands of late but prior to this tour he joined another band which I can't recall. Doug is a great string playa.
  18. To my ears that sounds beautiful, rough and edgy. She has always used a stand for lyrics and she may glance at times to the lyrics. No biggie to me, and has become a pretty decent guitar playing and the band can flat toss some nasty riffs at ya face. It's just good ol' ROCK n ROLL.
  19. WOW, she gets me everytime. EVERYTIME. She once again gladly accepted my bouquet of flowers but didn't show up to my hotel room. Oh well, I will still always put the room number on her card. Buick 6 again threw the HEAT as the opener. 1 I Just Wanted to See You So Bad 2 Can't Let Go 3 Happy Woman Blues 4 Crescent City 5 Circles & X's 6 Pineola 7 Drunken Angel 8 Side of the Road 9 Everything Has Changed 10 Something About What Happens When We Talk 11 Lake Charles 12 I Lost It 13 Joy 14 Tears of Joy 15 Real Love 16 Changed the Locks 17 Come On 18 Essence 19 Honey Bee 20 Righteously
  20. Sarah, you know I will be there for the show. My concern will be a tired body as I have the DEAD show in Greensboro, NC the night before. Also, for Sarah and any Chatt area peeps....tonight at Midtown Music is Hillbilly Casino, a band outta Nashville who fall into the rockibilly groove. These guys have been my favorite Nashville - Broadway band for years. They have been one of house bands at Layla's Bluegrass Inn for many years. Trust me, these cats put on one hellava show. Try and make it. Hillbilly Casino
  21. There I said it, I'm going downtown right now. I will once again enjoy another SV show. I'm still a believer that The Search was the best album of 2007. Who has attended some recent shows? Word? Have you heard any news of the May release (new) album? Have a super KIND VD evening ya buncha FREAKS. DS
  22. Well this may be the first Blue cave show where seating is GA. Add that to the usual sh*tty, talkative frat type crowds who go to shows in ATL and this may get ugly. Good Times I hope.
  23. >>>New Atlanta Show Added! Good Times and a Blue Cave show as well. I'll be at the B-ham, 2 - ATL shows and two in Nashville. Unfortunately, Vegas has the the over-under of a RA total stage meltdown of 2 shows for this tour. I'm taking a hellava chance !
  24. I tried via tixmast for Asheville and was on right at 10am, and they were gone ASAP. Shut Out. I MAY try tomorrow for Knoxville only because my understanding is there are more tickets available for there than were to Asheville.
