  1. When my town was founded we didn't have a water treatment plant, everyone had a well. Damn "the man" for being so bold as to tax people to cover the cost of the municipal water/sewer system and the salary to pay the people who work for the "Department of Public Works." We were founded with a "Village Council" and I see no need to expand government any more than that. The next thing you know, it will be illegal to dump my used motor oil into the storm drain. Stupid EPA. Who the hell do they think they are?
  2. The guy was a nutjob! CNN posted an article that said he was a suspected member of a conspiracy theory website. On their forums someone put this thread together and included links to some of the threads he started and his posts. Completely crazy.
  3. My clinical instructor recommended the Henrietta Lacks book. It sounds really good. Now (still) reading:
  4. Wilco should cover Runaway.
  5. You know what's gonna happen if I don't get a scholarship sometime soon? I'm going to vent about it on some internet message board, that's what.
  6. This one made me cringe every time it was on. Actually any commercial with this lady in it makes me cringe. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-tIu3KVyic
  7. What do you have against living together in perfect harmony?
  8. Glad to see someone beat me to the Justin Timberlake thing. Also, what about Kylie Minogue?
  9. Living With Ghosts is one of my favorite albums.
  10. Bruce Springsteen Neil Young Sufjan Stevens Das Racist Bonnie 'Prince' Billy Tom Waits Soundgarden Neon Indian Joanna Newsom Antony & The Johnsons
  11. How about The Welcome Wagon? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LcwGAuWm3Lk&feature=related Their album was produced by Sufjan Stevens. I remember reading the liner notes for one of the Sufjan Stevens cds and noticed it mentioned Vito Aiuto. I told my husband that I was friends with a girl in high school with the last name Aiuto and she had a brother named Vito. I googled it and sure enough, it was him. That's probably why I was able to give The Welcome Wagon a listen because otherwise I would have probably lumped it in with Sufjan and I just don't get his music...
  12. Passenger Side is up there for me too.
  13. Poor Places is my favorite on YHF. Definitely in a good way.
  14. Cars Can't Escape is my favorite Wilco song ever.
  15. IATTBYH? Really. Reservations is better than IATTBYH. So is Jesus, Etc.
  16. I don't like W(TA) and I haven't listened to it all the way through since the day I got it. I also don't really care for SBS and I just think AGIB is so-so. Does it mean that I don't like Wilco? Absolutely not. I'd still go see them live and still listen to the older stuff and still hold out hope that the next album will be more like ST or BT. The reason I "stick around" might have something to do with the fact that I've been a member of VC since 2001 and I've made a lot of friends here over the years.
  17. I thought of something. I love my Uggs in the Wintertime.
  18. It's like I don't even know who you are.
  19. I've only heard a couple songs but I liked them. I just told Jay that I wanted him to get this one for me the other day.
  20. A Tree Grows in Brooklyn is one of the few books I've read more than once. I think I've read it 3 times and each time I cry like a baby when Aunt Sissy gives Francie the flowers. OMG! O Pioneers, My Antonia, The Grapes of Wrath, The Good Earth, The Secret Garden, The Crucible, all of the Little House books, and The Red Tent are the others. I guess it's more than a few but most of them were books that I had read in high school and didn't appreciate them like I should have back then. I do want to read Wuthering Heights again since I recently saw the movie. Frankenstein is still on my
