  1. Seriously, I love the Pernice Bros and was so disappointed by this show. It was soooo boring and the only show I've been to where I leaving early sounded like a good idea. I only stayed hoping that it would get better, but it never did. It probably doesn't help that The Long Winters opened and they were awesome. Cryptique, I also saw them at The Blind Pig.
  2. The Pernice Bros. - Serious snooze fest. Chicago - not that I thought they would be good, but I got dragged to this show by my ex and some friends and OMG, it was horrible. I can't think of a 3rd right now.
  3. I'm glad I'm not the only one who gives a f*ck about an Oxford comma.
  4. A lot of people wouldn't be up shit creek right now if they had 8-12 months worth of take home pay in the bank BEFORE they started buying a bunch of crap they didn't need.
  5. I think a lot of people are under the impression that people like Cramer already did the research they should have done themselves.

  7. You have to give Suze Orman a little credit though. I watch her show quite a bit and she does give some pretty sound advice. I love the "Can I Afford It" segment.
  8. I had tickets to see Neko Case back in 2003 (I think) but we had a really bad snow storm and we couldn't go
  9. I wonder how many times a day he sings "Mandy" to her?
  10. If Jay Leno had any balls, he'd tell Monica Conyers to kiss his ass and then move his show to Cleveland.
  11. It's kind of like someone told me once...If you want your marriage to be strong, don't befriend someone going through a divorce.
  12. City council has always been like that. They think everything is a black vs. white issue. If they could ever just get past that, they could work on rebuilding the city and making it a great place where people actually want to visit.
  13. Um, no. I have black friends and a black uncle. So there.
  14. http://www.cnn.com/2009/SHOWBIZ/TV/03/11/l...cism/index.html Who says that Detroit is one of their favorite places? Seriously? Detroit politicians think EVERYTHING is racist.
  15. Why do you come to VC regularly? Mostly for something to do and plus, by now it's a habit. What do you get out of coming here? Mostly the social aspect. I get to "hang out" with friends. Plus I like the political discussions and the "Now Reading" threads. How did you get into VC? Way back in the day when VC had about 10 regular posters, my friend (now husband) Jay stumbled upon it. He realized another friend of ours, BrandonZ, was on here so he told me I should sign up. I still remember my first post. Do you consider yourself a Wilco fan, even if you hate AM/SBS/BT/MA
  16. Like I said, he used to be my brother in law, so yes, I do know that he can borrow for any reason because he's done it in the past. I also know how much they refinanced their house for about a year ago, how much they paid for their trip to Mexico in December, etc. Is there anything else you'd like to know?
  17. I wonder the same thing about the loan, especially now. The only thing I wonder is if he took a loan out on his 401K to buy it. His 401K will let you borrow for any reason, you don't need to prove a hardship or medical reason or anything.
  18. I should also point out that his family also doesn't have any kid of health insurance or life insurance right now either.
  19. No, I live in a modest, 4 bed, 2.5 bath house that we built in 2005. I drive a 2008 Honda Pilot and my husband drives a 2007 Honda Civic. We live in a small town about 25 miles south west of Ann Arbor.
  20. You can still lived within your means and stimulate the economy. We own our own home, have 2 new cars, have 3 computers, 4 tv's (although one is the computer), we go on vacations, we shop, we go out to eat, we have iPods, the kids play club sports, etc. The only difference between us and most americans is that the only debt we have, is our house and our cars. And trust me, my husband makes less than $70K a year and I'm a stay at home mom and we have 4 kids. If he lost his job today and didn't find another, we'd have enough in the bank to maintain our lifestyle for another 8 months or so.
  21. You want to know what's wrong with this economy? The family friend who just lost his job about a month ago, just went out and bought a motorcycle. So not only does he not have a job, he has a payment to make on a motorcycle and I'm pretty sure his insurance will be pretty high for that. Also, we're in Michigan and his was a manufacturing type job, so he has no job prospects right now and also has no health insurance right now for his family. People need to quit living beyond their means!!
  22. So how many kids should a couple be allowed to have?
