  1. i remember after stevie ray vaughan died jimmy vaughan said something like "the world misses his music, but i miss my brother" i really miss elliott smith as much as i do his music. i loved seeing concert footage and interviews with him. everyone looked at him as some depressed drug addict but i loved everything about the man. its sad he died when he did, he was finally getting clean and getting back on track.
  2. i can't believe i forgot tom morello either. i love his solo stuff. i wish he would tour more so i could see him live.
  3. the video of say yes from his final perfomance always kills me. rest in peace my friend. we miss you.

  5. i completely forgot, lindsey buckingham... a very underrated guitarist.
  6. this may sound like a joke, but any form of "have yourself a merry little christmas" makes me sad.
  7. i didn't much like good news. but i'm REALLY excited about this album. just the concept of having the guitarist from one of my favorite bands in another of my favorite bands is mindblowing.
  8. i second marr, i can't wait for the new modest mouse album.
  9. i'd say for me it would be without a doubt stevie ray vaughan. (i'm afraid all of you are going to say nels)
  10. hey thanks alot. i always get confused when saying low strings cause i can never remember if they considered low by where they're at or pitch. but i'll try that ting with the triads. i've been playing more chord based songs here lately and i'm really trying to get some good chord progressions of my own going. i started when i was about 11-12 and took lessons for two years but all he made me do was bring an album in and pick a song and he'd teach it to me, so i really didn't learn anything about music theory at all. thanks again though!
  11. yeah i mean i completely understand them asking him about wilco because thats where he got his name from, and thats probably where his name will always be the biggest... but i feel bad that thats all he'll ever really be asked about. its like if keith got kicked out of the stones, you know no matter what he did for the rest of his life every question he would get asked would be about the stones. i can't believe i just compared jay to keith richards. i completely understand if you guys ban me from the boards, haha.
  12. lets say i have an a power chord on the 8th fret. could i make it into a chord like this if i wanted to use the lower strings too? e -----------------------8---------------- b -----------------------8---------------- g -----------------------9---------------- d ----------------------10------------------ a ---10----------------10------------------- e ---8------------------8-------------------
  13. haha, it happens in EVERY interview he does. all you hear is "wilco this, wilco that". i feel bad that thats all they ever ask him. poor jay.
  14. this is kinda a bump, but i also want to know if anyone has a live full band version of magazine called sunset? thanks
  15. my friend and i were going to buy tickets for the knoxville show a few months back but the 100 dollar tickets sold out instantly and we didn't have enough money for the more expensive ones so we gave up. well we ended up waiting behind the tennessee theatre because we had been downtown that night and we ended up finding where the buses were and we stood out there and he walked right past us on the way into the show. he ignored us trying to talk to him, but damn was it breathtaking to have the man right in front of you.
  16. i wish i could get a good fake id. all the good bands go to this nice little club in asheville but its 18 and up. is it bad that everytime i listen to a wilco show i think immediately after i hear late greats "i'm glad jeff got that out of his system"? its just a natural response.
  17. hopefully you did. i don't want any of you guys getting in trouble for serving alcohol to a minor.
  18. haha, i sat on here reading during the lollapalooza webcast and had alot of fun reading. i wish i had been on tonight. sum it up for me. how many songs did it take before jeff got "late greats" out of his system?
  19. so, i completely forgot about this tonight.... and i come back and saw there were 36 pages and my first thoughts were.... "did jeff get shot?"
  20. watch a fight break out on stage and all us people at home listening will start freaking out wondering whats going on.
  21. yeah, i think brick is much more of a down song. i love to listen to bright eyes when i'm sad. conor is an incredible songwriter.
  22. i think freebird has really grown old. if anything, i think "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" should take its spot. or hell, i'd love to see a band take a shot at "Bohemian Rhapsody". i can totally see jeff rocking out to it.
  23. i'd love it if it was video like lollapalooza was.
  24. during the lollapalooza webcast i think it said "What Light". but i'm not positive on that.
  25. does anyone know how to play the intro for "O'briens Nocturne"? i've looked for it all over but all i can ever find are the chords. heres a video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JgCbQnjjheo
