  1. I agree, hardwood. Even though it was from the 'disco' period, Jive Talkin' is one of the best songs ever. Wilco could cover the hell out of it. If I one a 'what would you like wilco to cover' contest, I'd pick Jive Talkin'. They'd tear it up and irony-free.
  2. cryptique is spot on. Tilikum, the whale in question, did not ask to live in a tank. His range is miles and miles of open ocean. Even if he was born and raised in captivity, that doesn't override his genetics. The wild has long been bred out of my Olde English Sheepdogs. It would take a hell of a lot of orca generations bred in captivity to breed the wild out. If someone wants to experience orcas, or any wildlife for that matter, they can. Go into the wild. We love to hike and backpack. Even if you don't want to get that into it, there are places near most of us, where if you time it right you
  3. I, too was at the Jacksonville show that is being discussed. Some folks certainly had an issue with standing. My wife and I stood for almost the entire show. As long a someone else is standing in my general area, I'm a gonna stand.
  4. That's interesting. I am just the opposite.
  5. Me too, Lou. When I saw the photo in the morning paper of the trainer's body outside the tank with 3 orcas swimming around in the tank, I immediately started hearing 'People Got Alot of Nerve' in my head. A weird breakfast and I am still hearing the song hours later. Tragic.
  6. When I was a kid, my uncle had a sign in the poolhouse bathroom/changing room that said, "We don't swim in your toilet, please don't pee in our pool". At the pool gate, a sign read, "Welcome to our ool. The 'P' is missing. Please keep it that way." I thought it was hilarious then, though now I think that 2 signs was overkill. Carry on.
  7. Rugby is fun to watch. I watched a few games last summer when we were in New Zealand and Australia. I saw Australia play New Zealand, a competition where the Aussie state teams, Queensland, NSW, etc., play one another, and a couple of Aus and NZ league games. I bought an All Blacks stocking cap. In college we had a rugby club. I didn't play but my buddy did. He severly broke his leg! France has a good team. Wait, now that I think of it, it was the All Blacks vs. France that I watched, not vs. Australia. I remember cock on the uniforms. A great match.
  8. Auref, I must apologize. Your English far exceeds my French but the language barrier has caused a misunderstanding. I do not know Wilco and have no influnce. I was just trying to get some French food! Maybe we will meet one day. I envy you that you get to visit your grandparents farm. Wilco should play in France. If you organized the French Wilco fans like the French labor unions are, Wilco would come to France. It seems that I am always in France during a rail strike!
  9. I will sign. I love France. One of my favorite memories was canoeing down the Dordogne. We stayed in Baynac. The cave paintings in Font de Gaume, so lucky to have seen them. Paris has never disappointed but we love the villages. I have an address of 'one man of Wilco' for you to send the French food. I can private message it to you. (I must admit that, though not a member of the band, I am certainly a 'man of Wilco'! )
  10. A thread about standing or sitting can get fiery!
  11. Bordeaux are having a great year in both Ligue 1 and Champions League. It will be no surprise if they knock out one of the 'big' teams. Auref, I follow Rennes and Sochaux due to the Americans they have, Bocanegra and Davies, respectively. I hope that Rennes can manage a Europa League place. A few years ago, Fox Soccer Channel carried one or two Ligue 1 games a weekend. I miss those. The Serie A games they replaced them with are boring and I never watch them. Strictly the Premier League for me. I hope that the new Fox Soccer Plus, debuting 1 March, will carry a Spanish or French game. It lo
  12. Bob, see you at Ruth Eckerd. My wife and I will be the ones in the center of row K standing and enjoying ourselves.
  13. I hear ya, Wendy. I was shut out for Durham also. I am not complaining though since I was fortunate enough to get tickets for Clearwater and Atlanta. I, too, have seen nothing like these sellouts. I wouldn't mind missing out on shows IF there weren't hundreds (thousands? Ha!) of tickets available at outrageous markups from scalpers. Having Wilco sell out shows quickly is wonderful and I'd deal with it just fine if they were 'legit'. Missing out to Wilco fans is tolerable. Missing out to entrepreneurs is not. Grr.
  14. We are in Orchestra left, row K. I'll bump into you or wave. I am very happy with the seats considering that I bought 4 instead of 2.
  15. I just reread my post and must clarify that I do not have an amber loving 'with'. I do however have an amber-loving wife. She said to mention the amber.
  16. I received emails from UPS last week that all of my Front Gate tickets were on their way. The Clearwater tickets arrived a few days ago but the ATL tix are, according to UPS, 'still in transit'. Hmm...
  17. I agree. GO!! Excellent live band. You will not be disappointed. We never miss an opportunity.
  18. Rempish1 and anyone going to Prague, as others have said, it is a beautiful city. Very easy to navigate, the architecture, culture, etc. are 'European'. In the Old Town the Charles Bridge (as mentioned), the Old Town Square (we watched the 2006 World Cup quarter and semi finals there on a huge screen with loads of people. A memorable experience), the Jewish Quarter, and the Havelska market are musts. In the New Town Wenceslas Square and the Mucha Museum and in the Castle Quarter St. Vitus Cathedral and Prague Castle are more must sees. We stayed in Hostel Tyn http://www.hosteltyn.com/ 2 blo
  19. I also enjoy bourbon, neat. Maker's Mark is definitely my go-to bourbon. I have had somewhat better bourbons but at higher prices. 2 or 3 summers ago, I had a fine time at The White Hart in Portland, Maine. They had a $4 pint of Pabst/shot of Evan Williams special. I am what many would call a beer snob but that day, I left the tasty beers to my wife. They were having a Belgian tasting though, and we chatted up the distributor rep and he kept filling our sample glasses. A fine day!! but I digress. Sorry. I drink bourbon much less than beer. I am sure that there are many fine bourbons out ther
  20. Ha ha! Fox Soccer Channel is in my basic digital package but I probaly watch just as many games via on-line streams, p2p4u or justin.tv. Every Saturday I watch the early kickoff on TV then, have SkySports Soccer Saturday on the computer while a game is on TV muted. I often wonder if a Soccer Saturday-type show would work here on NFL Sundays. I guess that that new Red Line thing on NFL Network (I think) is similar. I agree about Davies fitness. Donovan has been instrumental in Evertons resurgence since the Festive Period. He has started every game, displacing Bilyatenov (sic!). Altidore is a
  21. I wish that this thread were pinned or at least stayed active. I love football and have few opportunities to discuss it. There is so much going on now, partcularly in the EPL (the league that I am near-obsessed with). It can't believe that Pompey will be wound up, no matter how much it may be deserved. It would throw the league into chaos, particularly regarding the table. I can't see HMRC doing it. I believe that it will drag on until the end of the season and then the winding up order will come down. What about the proposal to institute a playoff for the 4th Champions League spot? It is
  22. Season's In The Sun... oh wait, you mean sad as in depressing... oh wait... Damn, now I'm confused.
  23. Fish in a barrel. Again my fellow Wilco fans, I must respectfully ask you, why?
