  1. I've used it, it's come in handy a few times, and it's totally worth the free registration. I haven't even gotten any spam yet (although after saying this, now I surely will.)
  2. I like side 2, and disc 1 in general more than disc 2.
  3. Agreed, the vinyl sounds fantastic. I just got AGIB and SBS last week, and I've played them both at least half a dozen times each - the sound is so much richer than the CD or mp3. Although, I suppose that depends on your sound system, my cd player could make anything sound like it's being played through a tin can. But when I have my turntable hooked up to even mediocre quality speakers, the sound is awesome, it gives a whole new life to songs I've heard hundreds of times before.
  4. Hm... after several listens, I also understand why this wasn't on the record. But it sounds sooooo much better live. Seriously, this studio recording does not do the song's potential justice.
  5. No Depression for Wilco and Son Volt - New albums from Farrar and Tweedy are upbeat, but which is the one to beat? "Sky Blue Sky isn
  6. How could you not realize that was a joke? I thought it was absolutely hilarious!
  7. Anyone else blasting the vinyl version? I'm loving it. It blows the mp3's out of the water. Straight up rock'n'roll, rich tones and deep bass, it sounds great. I believe Jeff himself even said that this record was meant to be heard on vinyl. And his word shall be my gospel.
  8. I can't remember if it's in this interview or another, but I think I remember him making some kind of statement about how people should be reviewing this album (and any album, for that matter) as the album it is, rather than the album it's not. I've heard over and over that SBS isn't like ST, isn't like YHF, isn't like AGIB and so on, but who really cares? Why does that even matter? Who would really want them to make another album exactly like one they've already made. That would be more disappointing than anything else I could think of. Wilco sounds like an evolved band on each of their album
  9. http://www.avclub.com/content/node/61709 I feel like I've read the same interview with the same questions at least half a dozen times. Anyone else getting that feeling of deja vu while going through the various SBS interviews? I feel bad for Jeff, he's probably feeling like a broken record. But yet, I still find him a fascinating character.
  10. Here's Prefix Magazine's review: http://www.prefixmag.com/reviews/cds/W/wil...y-blue-sky/3019 And PopMatters: (my personal fave) http://www.popmatters.com/pm/music/reviews...o-sky-blue-sky/ And The Onion's AV Club: (another good one!) http://www.avclub.com/content/music/wilco
  11. A Pavement reference? That's interesting, I didn't really pick up on that at all and I'm a big Pavement fan. Anyone else notice any similarities?

    Wikipedia

Thanks, but I know what Wikipedia is and I am familiar with the concept of a "wiki." I'm not that computer illiterate, as a matter of fact, I think I know a fair amount about the internet (although there certainly is a lot to know.) I've edited Wikipedia pages myself, but just for grammar and spelling because I'm one of those people who can't stand improper English. I was just wondering if anyone here has written for that specific article or knows who has. It seems to be significantly more informed than a lot of other music-related articles, as though one person had spent a fair amount of tim

    Wikipedia

Out of sheer curiosity, I was wondering if any of you guys knew who is responsible for all the info to be found on Wikipedia about Wilco and Jeff. I've always been surprised by how well-informed they are, replete with quotes from interviews on the individual albums' pages, footnotes, and an abundance of references to the Kot book. It's almost gushing with admiration, so I feel like the person (people?) who writes these is a fan of the band. I mean, there's even a picture of Jeff as a kid! It says it's from the Sue Miller archive, I'm thinking that at least means whoever put that up there had h

  16. I seriously hope they don't do a night at McCarren park pool, that venue is horrible unless you show up early enough that you can get right up close to the stage. If not, the acoustics are completely wretched, everything echoes off the walls of the empty pool and there are paint chips everywhere. Not to mention the gaggles of sweaty hipsters. It's in Williamsburg, that's expected. There's got to be somewhere better in Brooklyn they could play.
