You could have given her an enema or something. -

But he doesn't have a license to be a plumber? -
Dave Roberts came back. He was so psyched. I cried.

Yeah. I am trying to remember--did Nomar and Pedro show up in 2005 to pick up their 2004 rings?

Has anyone else seen/heard this: -
People, the question terrorizing my sister is: If the red sox win the WS, does Manny get a ring? Please reply quickly.
-
Thank you, Lammy, for jinxing the last game we have left to salvage this series.

I also wanted Obama to address the cries of "Kill him" at Palin rallies, when McCain was going on and on about how Obama has spent more money on negative ads than anyone in history. Or to bring up the Obama racist monkey thing. Really put him on the spot for things his campaign is either tacitly accepting or downright encouraging... -
they played hard. and i haven't heard any reports that any of their fans killed and ate anyone, so that's probably good news too!

That reminds me. You and MB asked for vibes last week (?) and said you'd reveal all, but I am not sure I heard what that was all about, and I am a nosey parker. So ?

There is only one major league ball team in all of new england. So, you don't have to be from Boston to be a sox fan. I also think the internet has a lot to do with why so many sox fans show up at other stadiums--because it is easier to buy tickets online. I am not disputing the whole bandwagon phenom, but the red sox fans are a different breed and a lot of that goes back to immigration of the irish and polish, not unlike the Yankees and immigration of Italians.

I should really write a book about the Red Sox Diaspora.
-
I have mentioned this before, but one of the reasons the Red Sox are so popular all over the country is because of the proliferation of immigrants in the first half of the last century--coming in thru Boston and then eventually moving west. Same goes for the Yankees, and immigrants coming through New York although they had more teams to pick from (Giants, Dodgers as well as the Yankees and then the Mets). There are red sox fans everywhere, and long before the sox won the world series. While i agree that there are plenty of bandwagon jumpers, the truth is that there are plenty of bona fide

I laughed. I blame the drugs. and Julio Lugo.

agreed. and i said a special prayer over at the red sox place to work towards a win tomorrow, lest you think I really have given up the Red Sox Ghost.

Isn't it time for a new election thread?!

I voted for Lincoln Chafee until the last run and I really agonized over it, but in the end I knew i had to vote the party (democratic) line. -

Yes except the reporter said the kid's Obama Biden sign was stolen in April. There were no Obama Biden signs until after the Democratic Nomination Party thingy. -
Red Sox are just not playing well. I don't see it happening. Sorry to be such a debbie downer, but honestly, the last few games have really sucked. How many runs have the Sox scored? like 4? in 4 games? and the Devil Rays have scored, what? 45? Their bats are hot, our pitching is not, and the Red Sox seem to be using wiffle ball bats.

Wow. that is a long text!

winning the WS after a million years of those near misses is like winning the lottery. It is more likely to fuck you up and ruin your life than anything else.
-
and yet everywhere I go, people are saying we're the new Yankees. What you say is true, of course, but being the team everyone hates is no fun at all. Folks have a pretty short memory. Just because we won two world series in the same decade, it seems to negate all the near misses and really shitty season ending games over the last 100 years.
-
what is this early voting business?
-
No I am not. I was the one last week hoping they'd find cancer in my leg again so that the red sox would win in the post season.

I definitely don't like being considered the new evil empire... Without the goof factor (and this series not withstanding) I think that's what creates an evil empire. I want some fun back. so, if it means we tank in the ALCS and not make it to the WS, then that is ok with me.
