  1. I have an extra pair of tickets for Wappingers. Unfortunately me and my wife can't make it up for the show. I live out in Queens and will be in Manhattan on Thurs and Friday to arrange pick up if need be. I also could possibly give the tickets to a friend of mine who is going and he could meet you at the show. I'm just looking to get face value but will accept reasonable offers just so I don't lose all my money. I rather some loyal boarder get the tix than have them go to waste. Email me at replacements75@yahoo.com. Thanks!
  2. There are few fun bars right on the boardwalk which are a little gritty and divey but they are really worth checking out. My favorite is Cha Cha Lounge.
  3. I'll be there with my wife! I'm really excited!!
  4. I would love to get in on this too. I just ordered the 7 inch but would love to have an MP3. I don't have the capabilities to do that even once I have the vinyl in my greedy little paws. Thanks!
  5. Any body else see the two guys to the right of the right most column. It's just the backs. Lucky fellows getting to snoop around in person. It looks like they are checking out the guitars.
  6. See when I put all those things in my tote my kids drink all my beer, smoke all my cigars and get my porn all sticky.
  7. Just order the Tote as well and maybe they will be too busy making fun of your tote to notice the shirt.
  8. On the issue of the Tote vs man purse thing. I have to admit that I broke down on the Ashes pre-order and got the DVD/ Toy/ Tote and the tote is cool but I only use it to carry home groceries from the store around the corner from my house. In the words of Brodie Man from Mallrats "I'm all man lady." I mean really is it less manly to carry a tote or to be too afraid to carry a tote? These are the real man dilemmas that challenge the mind.
  9. Yeah i remember all that too but there is a whole lot about family and living on and seems like its a statement about sacrifice and the things you will do for the ones you love. Especially the "like Jesus" line.
  10. Has Jeff said that's what it is about because I was kind of getting the feeling that it was written from the perspective of a soldier going to fight in a war only to send money home to his wife/ family (or her husband i suppose) and if he was to die his love would live on in his children. I could also see it as a statement about those who go to fight for our freedoms though it definitely seems like a more personal statement like that of the soldier sending his pay check home. Sort of in the same vein as "When Roses Bloom.."
  11. So about an hour ago, between reading all these posts and finally listening to WTA on something other than my tiny headphones (a la last night at 1 in the morning) I refreshed the Wilco store to see a box that said Vinyl/ T-Shirt preorder with no pic or anything but after a minute or two when I refreshed it was gone. Testing phase of course but it has gotten me excited for what is to come with the preorder.
  12. I think the implication that was trying to be made was that maybe after mixing on a great Studio set up a lot of producers will give it a listen on a shitty set up to see how it translates. I feel like I read somewhere that Jeff likes to take the rough mixes and listen to them in his car while he drives around. In fact there is a scene in I Am Trying to Break Your Heart where he is listening to an early version of YHF, isn't there?
  13. Just to be clear that this is a pop record and in all pop music there is use of what has come before. This is natural and it isn't lazy or stealing it places the music in context of what came before. Not every lick has to be groundbreaking and new and unheard by human beings up until it comes out on a Wilco record. Some songs just call for certain licks. Thats why a song can sound both familiar and new.
  14. I'm curious if the reissues were delayed due to first the Ashes DVD and now the new album. I know us die hard fans will buy em but some less rabid fans might need to spread their purchasing power further especially in this economic climate. Sales of the new material are more important to the record companies I would think and they might want to postpone anything that might decrease it. IE delaying the reissues in favor of releasing the new stuff. I am looking forward to these reissues but either way as Absolutyyz said at least the new album leaked!!!
  15. Wilco is back? I wouldn't call it a come back... they've been here for years... maybe just not on record. I feel like live they have really let fly on all the back catalog and especially some of the SBS stuff has just gotten so good. Just listen to the versions from the Ashes DVD and its clear that Wilco is at the top of their game. That being said I actually really like SBS but this record definitely hits you over the head more. Like love at first sight or listen. I was a little apprehensive with some of the live versions of these songs but they have totally been fleshed out. I can'
