  1. Look at Cal, posting his review on every message board on the planet...No, it really is a great review....Who did you steal it from? All kidding aside, I think the new Son Volt record blows the new Wilco record out of the water... I could barely make it thru the entire Wilco album, in fact I stopped after about six songs... I never thought I would experience that with a Tweedy album, but I finally have.
  2. Maybe it will take me a couple listens... I loved AM and Being There right off the bat...Same thing with YHF...However I hated Summerteeth the first time I heard it....Now I consider it a masterpiece. I just dont see that happening here. I actually stopped listening after Country Disappeared (no pun intended) and told myself I would just wait for the release date...Wilco (along with Son Volt) has been my favorite band since REM released Automatic For The People...In my opinion no band in America has produced better music over that span than Wilco...I did have pre-conceived notions about t
  3. Here is a post I made on the Farrar board a couple years back regarding meeting Jay Bennett. This whole situation is very sad...But I wanted to share this moment because its still one of my favorite rock n roll moments of all time: I had the pleasure of speaking to JB for nearly 45 minutes after a solo show he did with Edward Burch at Stubbs in Austin. If I recall correctly it was his first solo tour after the split with Wilco and several months before the release of the IATTBYH documentary. To this day I regret not going home and writting down everything we spoke about, because I was quite
  4. I just got home with the new issue of Men's Health. There is a profile on Minka Kelly (Lilla Garrity). Hottest girl on television, IMHO. I've been meaning to stalk her. I was the Continental Club (a cool music club here in Austin) when they were filiming an episode last year. The only person I recognized was the dude who plays Tim Riggins. Great soundtrack. Very good show. Glad to hear this.
  5. Thanks man, your right. I bought the Audio package last year instead of the TV package and really dug it. $14.95 is a steal, anyway. Plus I can fall asleep listening to your old friend, Jon Miller every night. Last year I was able to see all of Bond's key at bat's as ESPN broadcasted every game as he embarked on 755. At one point I think they aired like ten games in row, at least. I always go to Houston whenever the Giants are in town. In fact since 1999, the Giants are like 10-1 in games that I have seen in person at Minute Maid, formerly Enron field. So that's been fun. I was at
  6. "The Giants always have been an organization known for their slugging, from Mays to Orlando Cepeda to McCovey to Bonds. There were others such as Bobby Bonds, Jack Clark, Will Clark, Kevin Mitchell, Ellis Burks - sluggers the fan base could hook on to. There isn't one now." Thats the truth. Though not sure why Ellis Burks is mentioned, I almost forget he even played for us. Should have added Matt Williams and Jeff Kent. "Nobody here - Magowan, Sabean, Bochy - wants AT&T Park to become the West Coast version of Camden Yards: a nice place to visit, but not much to see." Very true.
  7. So as a lifelong Giants fan now residing in Texas, I am seriously debating whether or not to purchase the MLB Extra Innings package this year. I noticed that if you order it within the next week, you save $40 off the regular season price (making it only $159). I just dont know if I can stomach this years team. Lammycat was right on in his assessment of the team. Macgowan and Sabean did a piss poor job of preparing for the post Bonds area. The sad thing is, they actually have the financial wherewithall to put together a better team. The Giants are one of the most valuable franchises in
  8. Thank You so VERY Much. That was too cool.
  9. Good stufff. Nice site. Any chance you could post the video of No Sense in Lovin?
  10. Wilco played there in '02 back when it was called The Mercury. When they played "We've Been Had" I thought the floor was going to collapse into the bar downstairs. My favorite music venue in town. Great acoustics. Great soundboard. Intimate. Love It.
  11. Your right. That was half the fun of listening to fans on this board whine because the Residency shows sold out in five minutes, only to have Ticketmaster release additional duckets just days before the first show. Happens all the time.
  12. The Houston show is not sold out. I went to ticketmaster and clicked on the Houston show. I then clicked on 50 seats (the most you can buy) and it gave me the option of purchasing 50 tickets. So if anybody was planning on not going because they thought it was sold out, they still have a chance. I am really surprised by this. If this was Austin, tickets would be going for twice face value, especially considering how far back they are going in the catalogue on the recent setlists.
  13. The one and only KKK rally I have ever seen in my entire life, was while I was driving thru Cut and Shoot about three years ago. Freaked my ass out. So I guess Iam the only one here who got your sarcasim. The wife and I will be there. Just got my hotel room on priceline. $60 for the Hyatt downtown. Only half a mile from the Verizon. God I love priceline.
  14. There really is nothing to defend. As a fan of all things Jeff Tweedy and Jay Farrar related, I try not to pick favorites. I love them both like they are my children. Or shall I say my 6 year old basset hound,( which I found eerily ironic that some of you would mention basset's in my post). Kinda creepy, I gotta say, but cool nonetheless. Anyway Iam by no means the oldest fan here. I am 31 years old and got turned on to these guys in 1998. My first Wilco show was a surprise gig that they played at Antones in Austin in the summer of 1999. It absolutely blew me away. For the next few
  15. From Monday nights Residency show Jeff: "We're going to play a few songs from our first album" (Band puzzled) Jeff: "Aren't we?" Band: "No" Jeff: "I mean we're going to play a song from the first album most of your bought" Crowd: "Boo!" (Band plays Jesus Etc) Enough said.
  16. I wanna hear the piano lid crash and then "THATS GOTTA BE IT"
  17. The most overrated song in the catalogue. ITMWLY. I hope they dont close on this.
  18. They need to end it with a hardcore version of Gun.
  19. Up until the drone that was fucking brilliant.
