Check out my non-threaded thread...you might find it interesting, including the links.
Ah, what a coincidence being that I never saw that thread. I was aware of the release (hence my comment), and typically am always interested in ragtime or anything of the like. I'll check it out. Thanks

Note that not a single soul replied to my post on Sophie Tucker...not that I really expected one actually
A "red hot mama" for sure.

Are you partial to Tree With Roots or the original 5 volume "genuine"?
Neither, really. I look at both as an added bonus. Though I have wondered from time to time if they'll ever give any of it a proper release.

give me keene brothers or zero to 99 and let it rock
Hear, hear.

I've basically come to the conclusion that I'll never be able to pin point one favorite Dylan record.
I too, feel this way about Mr Zimmerman's proper output. One thing I can pinpoint is the The Basement Tapes has slowly become one of my all-time favorite records. Ever.

generic and faceless strummy acoustic girlie three-chord americana folk-sludge........
.......pedigreed bookend dweeb music

yeah, i loved him. he was great, and a super nice guy too!
It's too bad he's not doing the whole tour. Instead, I get Sera Cahoone @ The Fillmore. Good to hear he's still as nice as ever.

for me, the idea of bjork is more compelling than the actual thing.
for what's it worth -
I thought Dancer In The Dark was amazing, and at the film's conclusion, I sat there utterly stunned and couldn't really converse for a few minutes.

Oh, and there was some guy taping, so if any of you guys see a Chattanooga show out there somewhere would you let me know?
...and if by chance, anyone recorded the opener, Peter Bruntnell, I'm way interested in that. Peter has several proper releases from the brilliant Normal For Bridgwater from 1999 to last years' Murder of Crows. Do yourself a favor and check him out. His voice is his greatest asset, second only to his songwriting. There are many folks on this board that would truly like his work.
If anyone is interested in a comp, PM.

Keene Brothers record is brilliant
The Keene Brothers is a true "rock" record in every sense of the word. It's also one of the best things Pollard has ever done.

Didn't she do that Rock Around The Xmas Tree song??
Ugh. Mass suicide. Not forgiveable.
There are so many non-forgivable blah blah blah Xmas blah blah blah songs, I figured I'd let her off the hook for that one.
FWIW- the song appeared as background music during the children's classic Rudy The Red-Nosed RD.

Sun Kil Moon's covers of Modest Mouse songs are better than Modest Mouse's versions of Modest Mouse songs.
case & point - Tiny Cities

The only thing worse than the Decembrists are Arcade Fire.
The only thing worse than The Decemberists and Arcade Fire is Modest Mouse.

I'm definitely interested in hearing more of The Clean anthology.

He used to do one of the best covers of Big Star's Thirteen I've ever heard.
I must admit to a soft spot for him largely due to my love for "Good Will Hunting" and the contribution his music made to that great film.
I'm a bit partial to Either/Or

now this is blasphemy...Flying Nun is the greatest label of all time.
The Chills
The singles record from the 80's was quite good. Kaleidoscope...something or other.
Sophie Tucker...the original red hot mama.
