That was one of my first Parliament records. Like PopTodd, I love the eclectic nature of the record. Everything from funk and soul to twangy hillbilly music, and touches of harps and bagpipes along the way. Really great stuff! In the 90s I picked up "First Thangs" on CD which is basically "Osmium" with bonus tracks. If you can find it grab it, or get "Osmium... Plus" which is the same thing with a different track order.

Stylistically it's all over the map. There's a few pop tunes similar to stuff she's done in recent times, a rocker or two and a few funky things that makes me think she's been listening to a lot of Prince. Lyrically there's a few songs that take pointed jabs at the music industry. I've only listened to this once, still not sure what to make of it yet.
