The 8 Month Old "New" Fall TV Season 2010-2011
GtrPlyr replied to u2roolz's topic in Tongue-Tied Lightning
I'm a Martha fan too, she's definitely the best part of the show and the only thing keeping me watching really. Having said that, it's not a show that I would be terribly sad over if they canned it. I watched Rubicon and loved it. It sort of has a "3 Days of the Condor" vibe, lots of intrigue and paranoia. Season 1 has wrapped ih8music, I believe it was 13 episodes in total. She is one of the most beautiful women on TV (or anywhere else for that matter.) I must admit that seeing her in the trailers--and the J.J. Abrams connection--were the two strongest reasons for me finally gett -
#2 and 5, 8 are the only ones I wasn't certain of. I wasn't sure if #2 was I thought #8 sounded very similar to the intro to #5 sounded very familiar but I couldn't put my finger on it. I haven't listened to the album that's from in a while, I guess I need a refresher.

The 8 Month Old "New" Fall TV Season 2010-2011

Of the new shows, here's what I've been watching: The Event - I don't find it nearly as intriguing as "Lost" or even the short-lived "FlashForward," but it has just enough going for it to keep me watching. As for the 24 comparison, I gave up on that series halfway through season 2 so I hope this one keeps me interested longer than that one did. I don't agree with the comment about them treating the viewers as dummies because they tell you the month and year of the flashback. Their jumps have gone from weeks to 50+years so listing the time makes sense from a storytelling/cohesion viewpoint. -
High Land, Hard Rain is the only Aztec Camera disc I own and this song was one of the influencing forces on my decision to buy it .

Yeah, I much prefer having the physical item over some so-so sounding MP3. I quite liked 49:00, too bad that never got a CD release--or at least a FLAC download option--before it got pulled. I'm hoping the download portion of this new release has a lossless option and not just an MP3 one. Hopefully Paul gets back to putting out album length releases in the near future. As much as I enjoy some of Paul's randomly tossed out singles and EPs, something with a bit more effort and labor put into it would be greatly appreciated on occasion. Also, some artwork that doesn't look like it was cut and p

^ I ordered that one earlier today. I'm hoping for some pleasant surprises, especially from the download portion [crosses fingers].

Apparently Leonard saw the crowd unite into the image of "the Ancient of Days" in the Old Testament during the show. And had a vision of Marianne appear before him during "So Long, Marianne" which got the tears flowing. I wonder what the rest of the band saw, apparently all were given a tab of acid.

Watched "Bird on a Wire" last night. It's a pretty revealling look at Leonard's '72 tour of Europe with lots of great concert and backstage footage. The Tel Aviv show where he refuses to continue with the show is a particularly great moment. I don't think there's many artists that would allow such honest moments to be revealled to the public. I guess this is a testament to Leonard's openness and artistic sensibilities.

I know, it sort of came out quietly. I only found out about it because I happened to be browsing through his catalog on a CD retailers site a few weeks back. This new one is a stripped down affair, just Loudon on guitar and ukulele.

Of course this being TV, things often progress in a less realistic manner than real life. As the season progresses, and her trust of Dexter deepens, I suspect they will end up being a couple.

Loudon Wainwright III - 10 Songs for the New Depression and: This just arrived today so I'll be busy for a while .

Freaks & Geeks is one of my favorite shows, bought it on DVD a while back . It's too bad it didn't even make it to season two. Same thing for "Undeclared" which was pretty great as well.

Another big Cohen fan here. Inspired by this thread I've searched out the "Bird on a Wire" doc and found it was just released on DVD in mid-September. Ordering it now .

Played this one earlier today . I find that having the Weakerthans on this hasn't really changed Jim's sound at all. And that's okay with me.

Twinkle - Golden Lights I've been playing that Bowie quite a bit too. Here's hoping they do this treatment with some other titles.

... Bread - Bread The Poppy Family - A Good Thing Lost 1968-1973

... Bobby Day - The Very Best of Bobby Day Leon Russell - Carney

I dig that Roches disc quite a bit. Though I guess it would be lumped into the folk category that record covers a lot more ground stylistically than most folk records. I haven't listened to Siamese Dream in ages but I played it a lot when it first came out. Pretty sure I'd still like that one.

I pre-ordered that one the other day too

I just picked up 2 new discs of his last week. The guy was busy right up till the end.

I've seen this album mentioned quite a bit here, I'm definitely tempted to check it out.
