  1. Just happen to have my guitar handy so here's the intro as best I can figure out using a youtube clip: E|----3-3---------3-3----------3-3--------------------3---| B|----3-3---------3-3----------3-3---3------5----3----3---| G|----0-0---------0-0----h-----2-2---2---/4---\2---2------| D|----------H-----2-2---0-2-0--0-0------s----s------------| A|---------0-2-0------------------------------------------| E|-3------------------------------------------------------|
  2. This one conjures up summer for me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ahhmiuyko0
  3. You can't go wrong with some Curtis Mayfield, particularly this track: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Z66wVo7uNw
  4. I only see 1 person with this on their list so far. Not sure who this rant is aimed at. As for would she be on anyone's list if it not for Jeff Tweedy. I don't know about others, but I've been a fan of Mavis' a lot longer than I have been of Jeff's. I could care less if Jeff had anything to do with her record, I would still have checked it out as I have done with her other solo records.
  5. Agree with everything you said. The Grammy nominations are so out of touch with real music fans tastes, always have been I suppose. Heck, these people don't even know what genre albums belong in. Anyone remember when Jethro Tull won an award for Hard Rock/Heavy Metal song of the year? I wouldn't trust these guys to tie their own shoes let alone pick nominees for the year.
  6. I've only heard a 1/3 of those on the Paste list. I bought way more older records and reissues this year than new stuff. Some favorites from 2010: Dr. John and The Lower 911 - Tribal Spoon - Transference The National - High Violet Sharon Jones - I Learned The Hard Way Some Favorite 2010 Reissues (in no particular order): Bob Dylan - The Original Mono Recordings David Bowie - Station to Station Richard & Linda Thompson - Shoot Out the Lights Bruce Springsteen - The Promise: The Darkness On The Edge of Town Story The Rolling Stones - Exile on Main St. Lou Bond - Lou Bond Jane Birki
  7. Chris Bell - I Am the Cosmos (Deluxe Edition)
  8. All but one of the youtube vids at that site are working again. Act quick, they might not last long.
  9. I recall seeing one from them pretty early into this thread. edit: page 3
  10. @ Sir Stewart - There's a super deluxe version of the 2010 Exile remaster that comes with 2-LPs, 2-CDs, and 1 DVD: http://www.amazon.com/Exile-Main-St-Super-Deluxe/dp/B0039ZF89G I saw the other week that a 13-LP vinyl box set was released too (No Exile, but some great records in there nonetheless): http://www.amazon.com/Rolling-Stones-1964-1969-Limited-Remastered/dp/B00461MY30 Overall I think the drumming is pretty great on that track actually. Great groove and fills that perfectly compliment the song, and the sound of the drums is pretty good too. I'd kill to get a drum track like
  11. Yeah, pretty cool indeed. I wonder if they combined tracks onto one for this demonstration, or if that's how it is on the original tape. The one track has guitar, piano and Mick's harmonica in places. Considering the year of the recording, this was likely recorded on an 8-track or 16 at the most so I'm thinking they probably had to bounce a lot of stuff down to one track. I've always maintained that those kind of limitations force you to be more creative and work quicker. Nowadays people have endless number of tracks, take forever to finish a song, but the music often has less going for it tha
  12. I think we're heading towards Deb finding out about Dex's, oh, let's call them vigilante ways, and with Deb's recent revelations about herself she will be somewhat accepting. I don't see her joining in what he does, but she will let him continue undaunted after some heavy soul searching. This will probably play out next season. As for Liddy, like others here, I see Quinn being the one taking him out after being pushed one too many times. Not sure if Quinn will also die in this showdown, but it sure would be a handy way to get rid of him.
  13. They've put out some great records. My favorite is probably Keep It Like A Secret; those first 3 tracks are just about perfect, as is the rest of the record.
  14. It's actually 2 CDs, but yeah, still expensive. I got an email from Rhino that all Rhino Handmade releases are 20% off today. Now might be the time to grab it. I have my eye on a few of their other releases .
  15. That's too bad, I always liked him. My mom hung out with him and his brother back in the 60s.
  16. It has been remastered. It sounds good, better than the previous versions I have. The bonus disc of live material is pretty fantastic too. It was a bit pricey, but at least it comes in a nice hardcover book with a 40 page booklet.
  17. I always thought that was one of Prince's best pop songs. I haven't watched the Sign o' the Times film in ages, just noticed that the images are reversed in that clip showing Prince playing the guitar as a lefty instead of a righty.
  18. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwWN4w2t_74 The Kinks - Father Christmas Bing Crosby & David Bowie - Little Drummer Boy And of course old favorites from: Gene Autry, Dean Martin, Nat King Cole, Perry Como, The Ronettes, Elvis...
  19. Richard & Linda Thompson - Shoot Out the Lights (Rhino Handmade Deluxe Edition)
  20. I meant to order that one a few weeks back. How is it?
  21. Delaney & Bonnie - On Tour with Eric Clapton (Deluxe Edition)
